I was in the honors section, and I'll say this now, I did not do great in the class. Even so, I thought it was interesting. We covered many cool topics such as state machines. He's also a great professor who knows what he's talking about. He also seems to enjoy teaching, which is one of the most important characteristics a professor can have.

He tries to make class interesting, but honestly, his lectures don't make it clear what you're learning or why you're learning it. He curves big-time, but that's because he grades strictly and students really do poorly. Go to Mentor Center and retake quizzesexams.

I took my courses in 2000/01. Although I got B's in both courses, he was the BEST teacher I have ever had. He is extremely clear and thorough. If you pay attention to his lectures and can your homework done, you will do well in this class. I must say, I went on to do a Ph.D. at UTD with an emphasis on these courses, and went on to become a faculty.

Dr. Sudborough is one of the best instructors I've had at UTD. I had him for graduate algorithms. His exams are tough but fair, and all of the questions are directly derived from his lectures, the homeworks, and quizzes (which he gives written solutions to). I highly recommend him.

Theory of Computation. Great teacher - will explain things clearly, and answers in-class questions clearly. Homeworks can be long, and the quizes and tests are difficult - a clear understanding of proofs (esp. in the book) is a must. Great personality.
