Comment:
A good professor and a smart man who discovered many of the topics discussed in class. The class is somewhat boring, but to do well on the tests, which are over 80% questions from the previous tests on file in the library, you must memorize all the answers. Beware he doesn't curve the exam scores. Otherwise the lab is similar to last semester.

Sir Hans is a good professor and explains things fully in class, though the class topics are pretty boring. The laboratory portion is just as bad as CH422, though you don't have as many reports to turn in. The tests are 80% the exact same questions as the previous tests on file in the library, so to do well, you must memorize all the old answers.

He is really the nicest professor I've ever had! His lecture is not that interesting, but nothing is interesting when you have to memorize A LOT of materials for the exams. Biochem I was like hell, biochem II is much better already. Sir Hans Kornberg is 87 so he doesn't talk very loud. But anything you didn't understand in class just go to his OH.

Well informed instructor who knows his biochem inside-out. Very approachable during office hours. Similar to the comments below, obtain the previous exams because he does reuse questions. HOWEVER, the curve was definitely harsh this year because the TF's (Jose and Quinn) managed all of the grading, and probably used Dr. Tolan's "curving" method.

He was okay - some technology use in the form of lecture notes would have been helpful. I hated the book so I did most of my studying by looking up the pathways on Wikipedia, which worked pretty well.

Great class! His awesome stories were what kept me from ever missing a class. Like others have said: old exams mean doing well. The final exam is awful, though. But the class was still great. Oh and whatever you do: NEVER send your test back for a re-grade unless it's for 10+ points. Trust.

His final exam is the hardest exam i've taken as a BMB major. His first two exams are reasonable, memorize all the pathways and his notes!

Baller. That is all I have to say. He is a knight and was a postdoc with Krebs, as in Krebs Cycle. Easy as long as you memorize all his notes, get the old exams.

Sir Hans is a great guy and a great biochemist. Problem is, the tests have nothing to do with understanding, and everything to do with memorizing answers. Get the old tests! Only way to do well. The class itself is easy, because nobody learns anything who does well. The final is the only good exam as you will not know the questions beforehand!

I missed two classes for jury duty and when i came to office hrs, he retaught me the lessons I missed! Visit him in his lab, it's a real experience. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

How often can you say you're being taught by someone who was knighted for contributions to the field? Kornberg is great at looking at the big picture, giving you all the important details, plus throwing in fun stories about the BIGGEST names in biochemistry. Plus, memorize his practice exams, and you're guaranteed at least a B+. TAKE IT.

If you can't learn everything from your notes, don't take this class. Goes on a LOT of random tangents, light-hearted but NOT a good way to teach a science class. Material pretty dry, glosses over some things, goes really in depth into others. Doesn't bring big picture full circle.
