Comment:

The least lenient grading scale that I have encountered in any class at UF and the most unprofessional teacher. Gives all duties to his TA's and refuses to discuss exams with students. No appeals process for bogus, poorly worded exam questions. This guy stinks!

Benson is a really nice guy but goes over a lot of superfluous information. I watched lectures here and there but mostly just bought Smokin Notes and watched the TZ reviews (they're online for this class now... really awesome) and got an A. As with all my other classes, Tutoring Zone was clutch.

Very clear lectures. Everything you need to study is in the note shells. It is recommended that you read the book if not clear on something. Test are NOT super easy, however an A is very doable.

This class is easy but an A is not given, it takes a little work. He writes fair exams. You can drop one exam--I didn't take the final! Book is worthless, don't buy it. He is well organized and states what you need to know clearly. This class was awesome.

This guy is the man, and if you go to lecture a few times and office hours, he will make conversation, try to get to know you, and just maybe, help you for down the road. All you need is the coursepack and watch the lectures. Study the coursepack and you'll do fine on the tests. Did you buy the book? You shouldn't have. Sell it!!!! This class is super easy people. Don't screw around and you'll find yourself with an easy A.

Some people have easily gotten A's without ever honestly knowing what the professor looks like. Don't need to watch lectures or buy the book. Make sure you get the noteshells though - study those and the problems that are at the end of them, it is more useful than smokin' - smokin' just puts the slides in sentences anyways.

Lectures are pretty interesting. Some test questions are tricky. Not as easy as it may seem, but a good class. Dont have to read text book, lectures go over same thing. Practice problems pretty simple.

This class is extremely easy. Memorize the noteshell and try a couple of the problems in the book and you will do fine. Watching the lectures would just be a waste of time. I wish he could've used Excel to explain some of the topics though, it would have made the course more applicable to the real world and a little less boring.

Good teacher. Don't let yourself get behind though! I actually had a hard time paying attention though. Material isn't very interesting and was hard to keep myself awake. Best part, aside from the jokes, was the noteshells. And the fact that you get to drop your lowest score, which means you don't have to take one of the exams! Not cummulative!

Professor Benson is a wonderful teacher. He is extremely helpful and he is into his subject. He is funny and I really enjoyed watching his lectures. He always was very funny which made it a good class!

I got an A and never opened the book. Just watch the lectures and you'll be fine. As mentioned before, don't just focus on the math. People and processes are equally important to him. He has bad jokes, but an approachable personality. Go to the live class and get to know him. It just may pay off some day when you need a letter of recommendation!

I think he is an excellent teacher who really puts a lot of effort into his students learning the material. His tests are hard and require studying, try to focus on the terms as well as the math. Gives free points and has a fair grading system. Jokes are so bad, they are funny and help class go by. Take him, pay attention, and study to do well.
