Speaking as someone who doesn't mind doing work/has a high GPA, this professor was HORRIBLE. He did not make himself clear, thought that this entry level class was doctorate level, and his tests are impossible. Too much information without clarity makes for an impossible time studying. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

i am very interested in abnormal and when i took abnormal 2 i loved it. (not with him!) he treated the class like the only option in treatment was based on freud. he completely ignored biological issues & expected us to be able to psychoanalyze case studies & figure out what was wrong with the patient. i do not have a PhD yet you idiot!!!!!!!

Totally awesome and hilarious in a stodgy old man kind of way. He's ver intelligent, well-read, and well-spoken. He demands much respect and a certain amount of basic intellect -- he hates people coming in late and asking questions on topics that were covered weeks ago. Just show up and pay attention, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, he'll single you out in class for everyone to laugh at you for being a ****.

HARD CLASS....his tests are impossible even if you study. Hard to understand as well, we made him use a mic. Interesting class though and he has good stories which make it easier to understand where he is coming from.

Comment:

Completely disregards any biological aspects of mental illness. Uses alot of old terminology and lecturing style is a bit unorganized. Tests are very meticulously graded, causing a huge divide between those who adapt to his grading style and those who don't. Wish I hadn't taken this course.

One of the best professors at NU. Draws his experience as psychologist (not psychoanalyst) into his lectures, good sense of humor, very interesting and involved. Hard tests but you learn a LOT. One of the few professors I actually remember lectures and info from.

He is extremely unfair and speaks unclearly. He puts things on tests that weren't lectured about. On exams he will mark you off even if you have the right answer, just because other people put the right answer PLUS some extra information.
