Excellent class! It was interesting and current as far as Polynesian Anthropology goes. She was able to make abstract polynesian concepts become real.

She should not teach an intro level class. Assigned readings were the most boring I've ever had to do at UH, and her lectures weren't much better. She also seemed very unfriendly and unapproachable. I used to think Anthropology was fascinating, but she has completely extinguished my interest.

The midterm was hard (long), but she practically gave us the questions in advance ("study questions"), so all we had to do was read the chapters. She uses a lot of powerpoint and then puts the notes on the web. Pretty helpful. Lets students express own ideas too.

This is my favorite prof! She writes really nice letters of reference, and goes out of her way to give extra credit and help. She writes a LOT of comments on the essays, and she wants you to read a lot, but it's to make your writing mo bettah. her guest speakers and trips and feast classes are really good too.

Although knowledgeable in the subject, Dr. Young Leslie does not clearly express what she is trying to teach. She has a volatile temper and has demeaned students on several occasions. She has no business teaching an introductory level course.

Great class, lectures are interesting and are informative. She is very straight forward about what is expected so it is all up to you to keep on top of it. The essay and the journal articles, were assigned to close to each other, but--enjoyed the class.
