Ms. Gentry Kolen is probably a great teacher for some and worse for others. The class is online and heavily structured for reading and theory. The labs are there to make you comfortable with programming, not to think critically. She does know a lot, so I wish her lectures focused on programming more than the book. Quizzes are easy and short.

Not a big fan of online classes, but took Web Design because I needed it. She is very knowledge, but difficult to get in touch with. Would take almost a week to answer emails. Would have to re-email, and finally hear an answer. Read the book, do the assignments, and practice in the book. Fun and interesting, learned a lot about web design!

I had Prof.Gentry-Kolen for 4 online classes. Two at a Time! Classes that seemed to be overwhelming at times soon were more manageable than ever thought. She may be slowed in getting back to you, but when she does you have her undivided attention. Check out her resume and you'll understand why she is delayed. She's a very busy lady.

I've taken three classes from Prof Kolen. Great prof.! She made hard courses manageable. Any time I need help she meets with me and has a way of explaining the course stuff that is much better than the book. I wish she would teach at FSU when I transfer!

Great teacher. If you put forth the effort in learning, she will double that effort in teaching and working with you. I live an hour away and couldn't make it to class sometimes, no prob! She used Tegrity to record the lecture and it felt like I didn't miss anything at all. She even got the class to say HI to me one time. Thanks Heidi!

I took this class online. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone who is new to programming. It was a struggle to learn from the book. Heidi does video her classes though so I found that quite useful. She was very helpful when I had questions or needed help and is quite knowledgable about her subjects.

Easy class on Distance Learning. Started off well, she was on top of everything, lecture videos, power points, etc. But after the midterms, seemed like there was a great distance between class and instructor. Haven't had an updated lecture video or power point since midterm. Overall, easy A, just do the work, and turn everything in on time!

Have taken Prof. Kolen's classroom AND distance learning classes. She is awesome. I love her distance learning videos, it is just the same as being in classroom with her. She uses Tegrity and Elluminate--Super fast e-mail responses.
