Professor gives good lectures, the papers are a little boring but easy to do, the exams while are a bit hard if you study for a week you should be fine. The class was relatively easy

Lectures are unclear. Treats some students like they are less intelligent even if they have straight A's. Understanding how to study becomes difficult, because lectures are so unclear, YET exams are not even based on readings. This class made me decide not to pursue political science as a major anymore, due to the lack of value in its classes.

THIS MAN IS A KING. Amazing professor. Amazing lectures. Fair grader. 2 exams and 2 essays. He is a seasoned academic and knows what he's talking about beyond the classroom. Much respect and gratitude for him and his class, and I would recommend anyone with an interest in the subject to take him.

Norpoth is an excellent lecturer. His lectures are crystal clear and he presents the material perfectly. He tells you everything you need to know for the exams so make sure you take excellent notes! You have to write two papers (20% each). He is also very helpful during office hours. Has a good sense of humor.

Professor Norpoth is by far the best Political Science professor that I have had at Stony Brook. He is very clear in lectures and encourages discussions. We had 2 papers but they were not bad. The tests had some writing to it but if you go to class and take good notes, then you will be fine. He is truly not just a great professor, but a great man.

He is a wonderful professor. He really loves participation in class, and wants to hear from everyone. He only asks that you support your opinion with facts from the books or just basic knowledge. He loves his material which comes across in every lecture he teaches. His papers are graded fairly, and are on interesting topics. He is just wonderful.:)

Not a bad Professor. However I believe he tends to favor some students over others. Not charismatic to say the least and a bit dry, in his teaching approach. A bit Dull. Not a great lecturer. Take his class and you will see for yourselves.

Prof. Norpoth is very fair. There are no tricks or surprises. The lectures are very interesting and he varies things up with movie clips, graphs, debates, etc. If you pay attention (and go to the review session) there is no reason not to get an A. I wish all the professors were like him.

Love this guy! He is the best professor I've had at Stony Brook! He really encourages you to think, and he is all about debates/discussions. Notes aren't too necessary in his class, pay attention and read the assigned books. He's very funny, intelligent, and not too tough of a grader. Prove that you read, and support ur opinion and you'll do fine!

He is lovely! He is so well-versed in all things political, but never comes across as arrogant. He always listens to and encourages comments from the class. There are extra credit opportunities and papers that are based on readings on Blackboard.Make sure you read! He is fabulous and you will want to sign up for more classes with him, I guarantee!
