Having had Doc for Expressive Drawing this semester was quite an interesting experience. He's a funny guy, easy to get along with, and his assignments definitely give you a lot of practice and improvement in art. The only complaint that I have is that four projects a week is WAY too much lol.

Doc will be the most intimidating, loud, and frustrating professor you will ever have. Hell also be your favorite professor and his class will set you straight. Ive learned more from him than I couldve thought possible. I still hear his criticism whenever Im working on a project. Be prepared for four projects a week and the loss of your sanity.

Doc is one of the worst and best professors you could have. During the semester you'll despise how much homework he gives out and will have 1-2 stressed days a week. BUT once all is said and done your work will go through a major improvement and you will learn a lot about composition. He also loves talking about his daughters and apples.

Doc's drawing class is like boot camp for art. You might not like the assignments, amount of homework, or the way he critiques, but it's still a very good experience that WILL make you a better artist. His feedback got less helpful throughout the semester, but if you ask him after the initial critique you'll get more out of him. a bit fickle.

Doc Is a wonderful sweet old man. Be warned you will have a ton of work but you will also learn quite a lot. His assignments are clear. He does have favorites but that does not effect his grading. He is always understanding. It is a drawing class so grading is subjective but If you do all the work you won't get below a C. If possible take him.

Everyone knows him as Doc, to clear that up. He is the scariest, funniest, most lovable professor in the department. Anyone that says otherwise didn't get to know him, or didn't reach out to him enough. Show you care, he will take care of you. My favorite professor as alumni I've had many.

Really a fantastic person. The class is really difficult, with a lot of work, but he let's you know exactly what he wants, and is really lenient when you want to try things out. Plus, he's beyond understanding, when I was having an extremely rough semester, he went out of his way to help me manage everything. This class tripled my drawing ability.

Honestly Doc's class is a lot of work but it is worth it. By the end of the term you will see improvement in your work. He'll be tough on you which at first I was nervous about but he is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet.He grades on the quality of your work so even if you're missing a few pieces he's understanding. 100% taking him again

As terrifying as this class often was I really did enjoy it. I feel like he really helped me grow as an artist and gave "us education majors" alot of great tips. At first he may come off as terrifying but if you do what he wants and do ALL the work you'll be fine =) I definitely plan on taking him again!

The truth about Doc, he is indecisive about whether he likes your work or not, but the point is he is gives you alot of criticism. That, I think, is the basis of teaching. I do not believe you can teach people how to draw. I don't think he does either. All he knows is that art is expressive, and if you have a personality, it will show in your work.

Doc is excellent. He will push you to your absolute limit with work, but you will have such an amazing portfolio at the end of the class. He introduces you to many different techniques you can use in whatever your area of art is. He demands excellence, but is also very compassionate as long as you work hard and are honest with him.

Everyone should love Doc. He's the best art professor you can ask for. Of course he's a hard ass, but you can't take it personally. His criticism is exactly what you need to hear, cause when you're out in the industry, everyone will tell you if your work looks good, or if its a pile of sh**. Its better to just embrace his wisdom, than be miserable.
