He is an easy teacher. I wouldn't say good, but he is easy. Buy that sampler and read everything. No need to buy a textbook. Sign up for the Chem 1A workshop, the instructor taught us different ways to memorize the material. Chem 1A with him is basic. Memorize the sampler and then get an A! He also does EC quizzes in class so show up!

Got A because of workshop. I never even take Chemistry in High school. Workshop provides the much needed information about the quizzes and train me well for the exams! His exams, if you study in workshop, are much easier than other instructors. Lab is easy, just show up. TAKE THE WORKSHOP, the one designed for him, not other lecturer.

Dr. Silber is a fairly good professor. Many students complained that his lectures were confusing because they didn't read the chapter before hand. This is college, you need to read the book and prepare yourself. Quizzes are unannounced but they are also extra credit. Do problems from sampler. You need to form a study group and put time into it.

Dr. Silber isn't bad. He's alright. The lecture part was easier than the lab part. I managed to pass the class with a B-. I still understood the class well. Chem is way easier than Geol. Overall, I did well on all three tests and the final with a help from quizzes which boost everyone's grade. The final was a piece of cake.

First off, I loved chemistry in highschool, but Silber made it miserable. He's really old so I can't blame him for speaking slow, but it really makes it hard for students to stay awake or even have any motivation to fight through the sleepiness. Test's aren't tough if you pay attention... I didn't until the end. I still passed.

It is very difficult to focus during lecture. Sometimes he messes up and fixes it, he even asks us to "correct him if he makes a mistake". That is not appropriate at all for this course. The material is difficult and for him to ask for us to correct him is unprofessional.

Silber's lectures are all over the place. He knows his stuff, there's no question there. But he lacks the ability to interpret difficult and dense subjects into a lecture appropriate for this class. Luckily most of his test questions come from his sampler -- get one at the beginning of the semester! Also attendance E.C. (you'll need it.)

His tests were pretty straightforward, all i did was study his sampler and the lowest score i received on his tests was a B. If you actually try and put in work, then you'll pass. i feel like the people who fail are the ones that don't try. Don't Study the day before an exam! I usually began to study a week before.

Dr. Silber could possibly be the worst professor in the Chemistry department. His lectures are confusing and his tests are worded badly. I liked Chem before I took this class.

He's no help at all. Likes to talk about himself. Midterms and finals were easy because they were straight from his sampler. BUY THE SAMPLER. No need for the book. Homework was not enforced.

Dr. Silber is a very nice guy. He is a little too smart for Chem 1A so his lecture might confuse students. Just go to class for extra credit he throws randomly. His test is literally pulled out from his samplers. He only tests on what he lectured. Very nice guy. Got an A+ and it's because I read the textbook. Chem 1A material is not hard at all.

The class was very straight forward. The test will greatly mirror the examples given in class, and also include some problems being copied problems from his sampler. Lot of the material involves math. So expect some trouble if you're not comfortable in that subject. Show up for very very simple quizes every now and then for xtra credit.
