This is one of the best teachers I have ever had! Easy A so so so much extra credit. He is very knowledgeable and smart and loves working with students. If your sick or can't come in he will 100% work with you to get your hw in. I can't boast enough about this teacher he's so funny and a great teacher!

i'm in music appreciation class, 2016, i read older posts on here (2013) about a difficult and strong accent of his...? either i don't notice this/can understand it to the point i don't notice, or it has lost since the years now. lol. either way I agree with majority: it's not too demanding a class and he is upbeat and passionate in the subject

You have to take alot of notes. If you miss a class, you can only copy it from your classmates. His exams are hard, but if you are interesting in music, this is a easy class for you. one in class exam, one midterm, one take home exam, and final. Lots quizzes and two concert reports. Too many things have to remember in his class.

He is a great teacher and is passionate about music. he is always there to help you out. the class easiness is average lots of quizzes and a few exams and 2 concert papers. He has a thick accent and cannot see well so sometimes it is hard to understand him, but overall a great teacher.

Took Music Appreciation from Dr. Mat, and loved it. Easy class if you take notes, and memorize a few things. Easy tests. I wish I was majoring in music so I could take more of Dr. Mat's music classes. I learned a lot with no homework and two papers to write!

truthfully it was a pretty easy class, however if u cant stand people who think they're funny even though they aren't avoid this teacher also a terribly boring class where all you do is take notes however it was an pretty easy class as long as you took notes ALL CLASS EVERYDAY. This teacher is just fun to watch, and it makes it even better that he is talking about something interesting. He is a total goof ball and quite the character. You can tell he has just a genuine passion for his subject and does his best to share this passion with the class. I would definitely recommend this professor!

I loved Dr. Mat! I am not a music history whiz by any means, so I didn't understand the lingo going into the class, but his teaching was helpful. He's very nice and funny! His tests were easy as long as you take notes in class and review the book. The only downfall to the class was the essays (we had between 1 & 3 to write for each of the 4 exams)!

I love how he wears running shoes with polyester suits!! He's a riot. Just make sure you don't sit in the front row; sometimes he gets excited when he's talking and he spits!
