His CISC 2850 is a math class; knowing myriad formulas will get you an A. Knowledge of computers not required. I personally can't understand a word he says, and he writes in cursive. Open book / notes yes but if you suck at math... good luck

Algorithms: Tran is very difficult to understand sometimes. He doesn't explain everything very clearly so you're often confused during class. Sometimes its helpful to clarify the problems by asking questions. HW due every two weeks; midterm & final. Tran weights the exams if he sees improvement during the class.

Don't buy the textbook, you won't need it. He has a very thick accent but it wasn't really a problem. Just copy everything he writes on the board. Tests are just modified versions of the projects you do in class, which he checks and you'll always get 10/10 on. Just don't miss class. If you do, make sure to get the notes.

Easiest class I've taken in my life- high school and college. His accent is intimidating at first but he writes everything on the board. Homeworks take 5 minutes- he assigns very simple material. Got 10's on almost all. The two exams are just as easy. In the lab the TA will help you make sure your project is perfect and you'll get a A on every one.

Don't buy the book!He tells you everything that you need to know for hmwk+test=write down everything and his accent won't be a problem.Not helpful during lab hours.3 tests (midterm,other,final) that last 20-40mins!Doesn't take attendance.VERY easy A!

He seems like a nice guy, but he is a horrible teacher. He teaches straight from powerpoint, and has a thick accent. With that said, his class is ridiculously easy (all exams are open-book) and he doesn't take attendance. If you want an easy A or aren't interested in Comp Sci, take him. If you actually want to learn, take someone else.

Very nice guy. Class is extremely easy if you take notes and get help from the TA. People complain too much about his accent, it's really not that bad and he writes everything important on the board anyways. Take this class if you want to satisfy the core if you dont care about learning much. Also he does not take attendance. take this class

extremely easy class. class usually only lasts 30 minutes. the math stuff is pretty easy (as long as you ask the TA for help) and the computer stuff is equally easy (as long as you ask the TA for help). take this class and you'll get the easiest A of your college career

Super easy class. The homework can be tricky but the TA basically does his job for him and really doesn't count all that much. Midterm and Final are short but not too easy. Class ALWAYS lets out early. GO TO THE TA FOR HELP and not the help center and you should be more than fine. Easy A.

Easiest A ever. We always got out of class 45 mins early, the homework and lab projects were so easy. His accent is very hard to understand, but you can get whatever help you need from the TA. If you have to take Comp Sci and want an A, Tran is the way to go

Joke class. As long as you write down the notes he puts on the board, the tests are easy 100s (even if you have no idea what's going on). Homework can be hard but the TA grades it and it doesn't count for much. Gives you exact codes for web projects. A very easy A (though you will have to suffer through his Engrish, but he always lets out early)

He's kind of mean! My grandpa died early in the semester so I missed a test and he made me take it the day I got back. Do the homework, hopefully your TA is cool-- that will help in terms of the lab (you go once a week). As a humanities student, this class was a necessary evil of the core curriculum.

Class was an absolute joke/waste of my time, but definitely an easy A. Homework assigned every 2 weeks along with JavaScript projects. 3 exams per semester and he drops the lowest grade. Pretty hard to understand his accent and very unapproachable, but get a good rapport going with the TA..he'll become your best friend. And DON'T buy the book.

Computer structures was seriously a waste of time. I found this teacher incredibly dull, boring, and unable to help when it was needed. Don't take the class if you want to learn about the subject, only if you want to get a good grade in something.

Tran is a ninja! You cannot find him, but he finds you. Short, concise classes. Easy grader, doesn't take attendance (or care about conduct for that matter). If you are a CS/IS major, take Tran!

If you want an easy A, Tran is your man. He allowed open book and open laptop on our last test. However if you really want to learn, look somewhere else, because his explanations are terrible and he just writes on the board for most of the class.
