He would keep class on track but after a student answered a question he would give the other students a chance to agree or disagree before he would weigh in. Really made you think. He is one of my two favorite SSU profs.

He is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He sits in class and if you ask him a question he says "oh i'm thinking about what i'm going to do after class, i'm not here". We went whole class periods stuck on one problem and he still refused to help. If you are planning on taking a difficult class and know you will need help, AVOID HIM!!!

Much of what he teaches isn't really math, it is logic based problem solving. He goes on tangents about he wants to be a lawyer,which can take up half the class. He can be very sarcastic as well. The textbook was used for maybe the first two weeks of class. Try to find it cheap, even if you barely use it, he'll get after you for not having it.

At first, I did not like him, he has a very sarcastic personality, and does not give straight answers. But he makes you think by asking questions that are challenging, he really makes you understand the material at a deeper level. His tests and quizzes were fairly easy as long as you studied hard for them.

Dr. Austin is a wonderful calculus professor! The first week of class, I was very intimidated by his sarcastic personality, but once you get to know him, he's awesome! He encouraged us to ask questions, and all tests and quizzes were fair.

this teacher thinks that he is the inventor of stat. wastes time trying to come up with philosophical statements on how to think of stat, make things more complicated than it is, he askes u to study his own notes that he comes up with in class and his quizes and tests has nothing to do with it. he dont remember that he said the notes in class

He is really a delightful teacher once you get to know him. The first day I thought I would hate the class, because he seemed really strict, and a little confusing. But I later learned that that's just the way he is. Very helpful on tests. He will usually do his best to explain something if you don't understand. Very nice man!

He rescheduled the Final Exam even after the date had been posted for 6 months. I came to take the exam at a different time since the new time conflicted w/ my other exam. He put me in a room and forgot to give me the exam. I had to walk back to his office and get it. He also doesn't know where the play button is on Youtube...

Many people would have trouble grasping some of the concepts in Discrete Math no matte who the teacher but Austin really cares about the students and does his best to teach them. With that said he is scatterbrained and sometimes has trouble putting words to his thoughts. I personally think he is OK

He is a great teacher. explains everything very clearly. if you still need help he is willing to help you. has a lot of pop quizzes usually on friday since no one is really there. homeworks are short and easy. he is better then other stat teachers. TAKE HIM. on each test you are allowed one sheet with notes.

He is nice and willing to help. He gave us a quiz every class session which helped me keep up with the material. Make sure you keep up with his notes and you will be ok on the tests. Please don’t buy that book. I opened it once and I immediately hated math. I switched over to my general stats book and I got an A in the class.
