Great professor. She's in math ed so she teaches differently than the other prof's - more group activities, easier tests, not as much assigned work. Grade is based almost entirely on standard final taken by all sections. Do a lot of practice finals close to the end and make sure you understand everything. Go to her for help instead of the TA lab.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS CLASS!!!!! I enjoyed every class period and learned so much. She allows you to work with classmates all the time and will help with whatever you need. I HIGHLY recommend her!

I really liked prof. Gerson. Mostly because she is in the Math ed program, which I believe makes her a better professor. She was extremely helpful. The tests were long and hard, all free response. Yet, homework and classwork was a large part of the grade so that helped. Overall, I recommend her!

Comment:

History of math is a fascinating subject, but I think she didn't let it be as interesting as it naturally should be. The book "Journey Through Genius" is great, so read that one. Her tests were reasonable, but most of her students do Sudoku during class time.

I love Dr. Gerson. She sometimes seems a little too plain to some, but I believe it is because they don't put much effort into learning, and she can't force them to. She does everything to encourage it though, and even though the classes I took from her were only 1 credit, I learned more in them than a lot of my 4 credit classes.

Very helpful. The class wasn't too much work, and she's willing to inspire understanding as far as the students want to go. She always encourages you to look just a little deeper... gain a better understanding of the concepts. Exceptional teacher.

Dr. Gerson is very nice and very willing to help students. She gives students the opportunity to think and learn for themselves and doesn't believe in only one right way of understanding. There was very little work for this class (which is not surprising, given that it's only one credit).

I think Dr. Gerson is a good teacher and a wonderful woman. She really loves her students. When I took the time to ask, she was available and more than willing to help (She even loaned me one of her books that she thought might benefit me in another class). I liked her figure-it-out-with-my-help approach. Different, but effective. Love her!

I did well in the class because I am good at math. Dr. Gerson is a lousy teacher and does not do a good job at explaining concepts and answering questions. Her test questions are not very well written either. The class is easy just don't take from her.

She loves her students and will willingly spare anytime to help them. There is a alot of homework, but since itz a 4credit class thatz kool. The bottom line is, if you are a serious student, you will be exceptional in her class.She doesn't make Math hard.

The class is pretty easy and she really cares about helping the students understand the material. She is one of the few Math 119 who lets the students use calculators on the tests.

I think this is her first year teaching Calculus, and she isn't very good at answering people's questions. I'm only doing well because I took Calculus in high school. If you get a good TA it'll be a better experience.

The best math teacher there is. She explains things very plainly and is willing to work with students if they are having trouble with the course material. I can't say enough good about her.
