It doesn't require a solid base of CS or math. Read textbook, you will learn Assembly language and get A. 2 exams are basically exercises of each chapter with different variables. You will never get good grade if you did not study, but once you try to learn every question will be easy for you. Mr. Dachslager is cool and cold outside but warm inside.

Grade is 50% midterm and 50% Final. He emails you a word document and you fill it out and send it back by the due date. 90% fill in the blank (filling out tables/solving computer based math problems) and 10% multiple choice/definitions. Definitely NOT easy(can't google everythin). The course is basically the textbook/study guides and 80% is an A.

DON'T take this class. His Midterms and Finals are awful- sometimes he grades them wrong and also puts things on them which aren't even in the book. The book that he gives doesn't explain /anything/.

I am a 4.0 student (CS Major at Ucsd) and this professor is the worst I've ever had. He is NO help. Refuses to meet in person (probably scared, because he knows he shouldn't even be teaching this class). Learned nothing. I will still get a good grade, but most frustrating year with this prof I've ever had. Gives no explanation in emails to help.

For an online class, this was not an easy class. I dreaded this class. There were extra credit projects, but I didn't even get points for that. The notes and the study guide, go together but finding the answers were close to impossible. I did email him for explanations but it took forever to get response. Do well on the midterm and final. :( GL

Really funny guy. He's quite old-school, and is very upfront that not everyone is cut out for the subject. If you use your brain and put the effort in, he'll respect you and it won't be hard to learn the material and get a good grade. His lectures are very short, but frankly, I don't think it would be good to try to cram is more information.

This is a class that really shouldn't be taught online, particularly when the material is just a "textbook" he wrote, it doesn't feel like you have a way to actually learn the material. Takes at least 3 emails for him to respond, and when he does it's as short as possible and sometimes rude. Should offer an in-class version of this with a new prof

The only material that was used was a textbook that he wrote. Some of the examples did not have the answers shown, so I couldn't check if I did it correctly. The grade is dependent on 1 midterm and 1 final. Some of the exam questions are like the examples in the textbook.

He is the worst professor you will ever have in your educational career. Not only does he not want to answer any questions via email, he is also the most incompetent professor at ivc. He does not care for his students he wants all of us to FAIL He does not answer questions because he himself doesn't know. He should be fired WORST TEACHER EVER

I know a lot of people think he is rude and harsh but he really wants his students to learn something. Math is a hard subject for me but I'm glad I took stats with him. I learned a lot and passed his class. He will answer any questions you have and is really nice if you have any questions after class.

I'm glad I took him for stats bc of his grading scale, & bc he lets you bring in notes for the tests. I almost never attended class (attendance does not matter), & I ended up with a B (only because I got tutored). To end up w/an A or B in the class, you're going to have to teach yourself the math or get a tutor.

He's awful. He'll make a joke out of any question you ask, & he typically won't answer it. He'll make you feel stupid. He tries to be funny, but he's not. He's not helpful. He slurs his speech sometimes so his words run together. He lets you use notes on all tests so it's not SO bad as long as you can teach yourself or make good study guides.

Smart professor. Understands that putting kids into high pressure exam situations and failing 40% of his class is not how you teach mathematics. Students mistake him as being "abrasive" towards those that ask questions, but he wants to challenge them to think for themselves. Read the book and take advantage of his wealth of knowledge and experience

Avoid. One of the worst professors I've ever had. Maybe on the easier side, but he does not seem to care for the class.4 hours of lecture reduced to one hour. Seems annoyed to answer questions during class. Can be perceived as abrasive towards students.

he has phd from UCB. avoid at ALL COST. A is 80%. 1 midterm & 1 final. one problem is worth 7-8 points. no partial credit. one cheat sheet front/back. class is 40-45 min. no hw. blocks the board, can't see/read his notes. uses different textboook edition. not in his office during his office hours.

If you are a good student and know how to make study guides, take this class. No attendance, no homework and 3 tests TOTAL. Also, 80% is an A, 60% is a B, and 40% is a C. As long as you go to his review session a week before the test, you will get an A. He lets you use a sheet of notes on every test and gives you the last year's test to study from.

Really nice guy, has a hard time explaining things clearly. He doesn't care about attendance. He will be very patient with you if you don't understand but if he feels you are asking stupid questions he will call you out on it. Also he has a very low curve, if you get a 40% in his class, it counts as a C. Don't take his calc class if you plan on moving up in the math department.
