Fairly easy class. He will love you if you have musical experience. Class had some theory, but it was mostly history. Not that much work and tests are pretty easy. I suggest that you take him if you play an instrument.

At first I was interested in the course, but after a few weeks of seeing he gauges his class speed by how well his best students (with musical training) understand the information, I can no longer stand the class. This class is mostly music theory, not history. If I wanted to learn solely about the technicalities of music I'd have taken up piano.

Tests are easy, but if you want an A you have to read the book, cuz theres always 1 or 2 obscure questions from the book. otherwise, all tests, midterm and final included are 25 multiple choice questions. Also makes you see a classical music concert and talk about it for 2 mins

Great guy. Great teacher. No homework, and tests are easy. Classes are fun and entertaining, and I actually learned some interesting, valuable things.Excellent choice for a fine arts class. Definitly take it. He's kinda cute too.

He is great. Very clear, you know exactly what is going to be tested. Just make sure you keep up in the book as well. He is extremely enthusiastic, which can be hilarious. Its a great class.

From the horror stories that i have heard about other intro music classes, this man is a Godsend. Unlike my roomate who had to memorize around 60 songs per test, Howell had us memorize about 3. His fun an crazy behavior make this class real funny.

Howell is great, these people are crazy. His class is a joke, its so damn easy. He's eccentric which results in often hilarious class moments. Like one time he started imitating Mozart when he was a kid. Take him, its easy and often hilarious
