A lot of good materialwhich was presented really well. As with any fourth year course, there was quite a bit of reading, but it was totally worth it. Prof. Slater expressed a lot of enthusiasm for what he was teaching and was very helpful and friendly when approached outside of class. If you find a course he's teaching: take it!

Does anybody know if he is still teaching? He's a great prof. Really makes you interested in what you're studying. Exams are well structured, lots of options to choose what you write about.

I agree with the person below. Dr. Slater has made me interested in history. Those who have complained about him most likely didn't do any work and then were mad they didn't get an A. That's your fault not the profs. Good grade in this class is not hard

You can work as hard as you may wish sometimes - it wouldn't have helped it this class. Being read lectures straight out of textbooks, incorrect notes and ones own published work is a waste of time. It was a regurgitation of pointless data.

Really enjoyed this prof. I don't get why others on this site didn't like him. So you had to work in his class for a good mark...it's 4th year. What did you expect? You have to work hard to get results.

Dr. Slater was the best professor that I've ever had. It is a shame that he has retired because of whining, unappreciative students, like those who commented on this website, didn't understand that you actually had to WORK in the class to get good marks.
