Horrible professor, is very unwelcoming to questions. Extremely tough grader, and takes weeks to grade exams. Will offer very little support for you outside of class, so get ready to take this course in your own hands if you want to do well.

He's a great professor. I have taken multiple classes with him now. Most of them were a great experience however don't take econometrics with him. Any other class is easy to do well in.

There were a lot of environmental majors in the room and they had beef with his teaching but he is a good professor. His bread and butter is economics but he has a great interested in environmental studies. If you pay attention and try to learn the material you will get a high grade. His teaching method is relaxed and won't call on someone randomly

For Macrotheory he was a good professor, this is my second class I've had with him. If you pay attention, come to class and read the textbook you have nothing to worry about. He does not try to trick students or embarrass anyone.

Professor Bakkal is great. He gives clear lectures, answers question willingly and his exams are similar to his study guides. Most exams have extra credit questions at the end, making it fairly easy to get a good grade. You don't really need to read, as long as you show up for classes and listen. There is no participation grade.

Professor Bakkal is a good professor. He knows the material and is able to get it across. If you come to the class, take notes and are present in mind you should be able to pass with a strong grade. Tests are short answer, he wants to see if you can solve a problem and explain the reason behind reactions.

The worst professor in the Economics department in Northeastern. He is bad at teaching and monotone. His exam are hard and he is a unfair grader. Even if you do well in all your exams, like I did. He will end up giving you a bad grade for participation like 4/10 which will bring you done two grades. I ended up getting a B+.

Comment:
His lectures are confusing. His tests are all short answer, which sounds great in theory but the questions are very vague which makes it extremely difficult to understand what answer he is looking for. You can go into tests completely prepared and come out with an 80% unsure of what you did wrong. His grade scale is unfair 92% is min for A-

one of the easiest topic I've ever encountered but still couldn't get the As. He is clearly not very knowledgeable in the field and makes up for this by being extremely tough grader. Had to write two 2500 words papers, too much for a course that has 3 exams. I put down 15 hours work into papers, all I got back from him was one sentence feedback!

Not to sound extreme, but one of the worst professors I've had. If you enjoyed Environment & Society with professor Daniel Faber, stay clear of this course and professor if you value your time. He's not very knowledgable, talks slow, stutters, rambles, and he easily gets confused by both his own thoughts and questions in class. Very disappointed.

I think he gets a bad rap. Can be hard to follow in lectures but he really knows his stuff. Read the book. Pretty good about answering questions via email or after class, and pretty much tells you exactly the answer he'd be looking for on a test. Speaking of the tests, they're all short answer but they're very similar to the study guides he gives.

He is a terrible teacher, although the subject matter was really interesting to me. He is very unhelpful even when you go to his office hours and ask him directly for clarification. I would recommend taking this course with someone else.

Great professor. Hard to follow at times. He gets a bad rap. He's absolutely brilliant. If you take notes, go to class and do the reading you'll get an A. if you skip class, don't read, avoid studying, you'll definitely fail. Easy to pass and easy to fail as well.

Probably one of the best profs I had here so far. If you take notes in class and listen to what he says, you will be able to get a good grade. This obviously implies going to the lectures. The book isn't necessary in his theory classes but could help.

Tests are mostly based on what was taught in the class. Thus, it's highly recommended that one goes to the lectures.
