Great professor... fine introduction to the history and theology of Islam as well as Islam's influence on scientific and philisophical progress, especially the evolution of classical liberalism. Articulate speaker, fair grader... overall an interesting and worthwhile class... Not averse to sharing his opinions, but will respect other arguments

Comment:
Good guy overall, very knowledgeable about the material, which was interesting for the most part. The reading was a bit brutal, not only in workload, but also in actually obtaining the books in the first place. Grading seemed to be fair, although a bit vague at times. Interesting subject, helpful guy, but make sure you have the time to read.

I loved Dr. Ahmad's lectures--but they're definetely not for everyone. There is a lot of reading for this class, and you have to be interested to enjoy it, but so long as those two criteria are fulfilled, the class is wonderful. And while he may be a Muslim libertarian, I still learned alot from him. Plus he's a really nice guy overall.

An awesome class indeed..and i agree that he was sort of a radical muslim liberatarian..but in a good way that makes you think. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn more about Islam.

Dr. Ahmad was by far my favorite professor. His seminar was very interesting and so long as you read and took notes you would get an A. His message and theme was clear, and he was sort of a radical Muslim libertarian. Course includes a free dinner.
