He is a great professor who does not require a textbook nor gives you assignments. However, if you skip his class you will fail. Everything that is in the test he has given it out in his lectures. He can be boring sometimes if you are not into Central Banks. His test are tough, you will need to study.

No doubt that he knows what he is talking about, but very boring lectures - almost irrelevant to the exams. Questions come from the previous years exams which he posts on BB. Your final grade is either avg of 3 tests, or just final - whichever is highest. Recommend not skipping class, even though attendance is not mandatory.

really good finance professor. 2 tests plus final exam are the main grades. to prepare for the test, you have to attend class, take notes, and work on the practice problems on blackboard. these are critical if you want to pass. pop quizzes are for 1 extra point on the final. textbook is not necessary. will keep you all of the class time btw.

He's a smart, knowledgeable and funny guy! He knows mostly everything related in Finance's history. I really enjoyed the class because of the knowledge. The class has a tons of knowledge and he doesn't an organized lectures (powerpoint slides). Everything is what he says in class. You have to take notes seriously. The test is tough as well!

B is pretty easy, will need to work for an A. He lectures til the last like 5 minutes which can make it pretty miserable. Just mainly pay attention to the math. No cheat sheet. He can make some of the math tricky, but the questions with no math are copy and pasted from previous tests. Just review previous material and take notes of the math n class

Hands down, best finance professor at UNT. There's only 3 exams, all of them very similar to the material he puts on BBL. His lectures are very long, but he explains things clearly and the material is very interesting. He does give "extra credit" pop quizzes that are added to your final exam grade, but not too many. Easy "A" if you study hard.

Don't buy the book - never used it once. Professor is extremely knowledgeable and the course is challenging but do-able. Know the packets for the tests and don't expect to get out of class early.

He bounces around the history of finance more than actually explaining the calculations that will be on the exam. There are large review packets, but if you can't work out the problems because he didn't explain them in class it doesn't help. I sent him several emails during the semester, but he never replied to a single one of them.. Frustrating.

All Finance majors should take this class with Karafiath. He is extremely knowledgeable and his tests were easy if you studied the packets he handed out before each test. Easily one of the best Finance professors at UNT.

Awesome professor. If you want to know the inter-workings of financial markets take prof K. He even covered subjects such as too big to fail, the fed, the treasury, federal trust funds. Truly an eye opening course not only to financial markets, but to the government as well. Class was packed with absurd amounts of great information.

He has no social skills. He believes lies a professor will tell but not the truth a student will tell. he retaliates. I should have complained about him to PRESIDENT. Made a mistake I regret till now.

Karafiath is a really nice teacher. The finance students seem to like him very well as far as the information that he gives and teaches. I got bored in the class, but everything he teaches is relevant to the exams. Know all the info on the handouts he gives and it's an easy A!

Loved this professor! His voice is very monotone and at times it was hard to stay focused and not get bored, but he knows the subject and actually teaches it and not just read off of powerpoints. I highly recommend to take him, just read and study the handouts that he gives and you will make an A in the class.

Professor's name scares you, but he speaks perfect english. He's pretty boring to listen to, but hey that is finance/accounting. His Final is hard and you don't get formula sheets for the exams. I had a solid B going into the final and got a D overall. The final is worth 50% and 2 exams worth 25% each. Be sure you know how to spell his name correct

You do NOT need the book so don't waste your money. He is an awesome prof. Although I got a C I learned more than I have in other classes. About half history of fina/half equations. He loves the subject and despite what his name might lead you to believe, speaks very clear English. Great guy.

Okay his clas wasn't easy, but man is he ever thorough. If you have questions he will go over the material again. He also sounds like one of the most knowledeable professors I've ever had. Peoeple would ask him very specific unimportant questions about the fed or treasury and he knew all of them. A bit boring, but fina is boring to me.
