If your good at just memorizing material and not actually learning anything then your probably like some of the people complaining and this class isn't for you. Shes great! People think the test are hard because its not just brain vomiting definitions, you have to conceptually think about the answer. your paying for it, learn something.

You will work for a C. Exams are tough, classes are boring, no curve ever, she doesn't care about the students I WOULD TAKE ANYONE ELSE for ecology. Please really listen to this post or your gpa might be lowered.

Really nice and extremely helpful one-on-one. Very strict on grading and lots of questions from the textbook, even things we didn't really discuss in class. It's not really that hard of a class, but it can be difficult because her exam questions are very vague and difficult to understand, sometimes with mistakes. Final replaces lowest exam grade.

I like her a lot actually. Yeah the stuff is hard and yes theres stuff on the test that was not mentioned in the class, BUT this is college and you have to do what's expected of her. I made a B in the class, but you have to be persistent and read the book

You can record her lectures and still do badly in her exams. She's unforgiving and has made mistakes in the past. Oh and don't be surprised if something that wasn't mentioned in class nor in the book ends up on your test. Study guide is basically 50 questions that have two or three questions each.

Exams are not worded clearly. Has had to regrade both of the exams so far because of a mistake she made. Class is extremely boring (yet mandatory) and her explanations aren't helpful. It's a shame that this course is mandatory because I got nothing from it. I would have rather taken a biology course that is harder yet essential for future schools.

She's nice but strict. The class is boring, but pretty easy. Uses lots of powerpoints and examples. Takes attendance using clickers and usually has at least 1 clicker question in class too. tests are multiple choice and fill in black.

Talks fast, bring a recording device to make sure you get ALL the notes and details. Have to study for exams but a fair teacher. Clicker quizzes during class and attendance taken with clickers. Boring topic but not a horrible class.

The tests were difficult, but not unreasonable. Study guides were given before each test, and covered the material on each exam. Several small projects that required some time and thought, but were not too consuming. Very knowledgeable in a variety of fields, and often has answers to questions on the spot. Material can be fun. Very much recommend.

All the notes come from power points.She gives out a study guide,but its like a mile long and your basically just re-writing the powerpoints.Read the chapters in the book. Tests seem easy when you take them, but she grades very hard.Take someone else.

prepare to do a lot of reading - she doesn't really teach. Difficult to understand her accent and she doesn't speak loudly. Test questions are written tricky, but she is fair with grading most of the time.

I agree she is a good teacher and person. Her exams are fair also but you have to be very very careful on the exam. She takes off a lot of points if the words are not exact for short answer and for multiple choice which are worth 5 points can hurt you.

She is a great person. As a teacher, she is hard. The tests can be tricky sometimes and the book is worthless. Don't miss any lectures! Pay attention, take notes, most of the powerpoint is just background info, go to Class an take notes, and you will be fine.

Dr. Sokolova applies her energy not only to her research at UNCC but to her students at UNCC. Great lecturer,clear and orderly, fair exams,all the great things you should expect!!! Highly Recommend her for any of her classes.
