Great professor! Tests can be hard, but there are a lot of points to earn throughout the course to cushion your grade. All tests are online too! I also recommend looking at the syllabus. She is a really funny person and has amazing stories to share with her classes! Cannot wait to take her again next semester and I will definitely keep taking her!

Love Dr Fiala! She's the best. She is so passionate about what she does, so it makes class interesting. Her test and quizzes are hard but if you attend class and do all the readings (which she usually posts, shes never required a text book for any of the classes I've taken with her) you will do just fine on them.

Dr. Fiala is super kind, and super understanding, but she isn't the best teacher. She spends 20 minutes to get through one slide, then puts information on the test that she didn't teach. The class isn't ridiculously hard, but she definitely makes you work for a good grade.

Attendance isn't mandatory but you should go if you want at least a C. I didn't open the book once, only attended lectures and I got at least a B. I'm sure if I opened the book I could have gotten an A. Enjoyable lectures, makes class relatable and interesting, cares about your success but is by no means a pushover. I recommend her classes.

There's no doubt Dr. Fiala is passionate and an expertise in her field. SOC 240 can be challenging, but it's an important class to take. This is not a 'blow off' course. Course will enlighten you to human-animal relationships in all aspects of life. Eye opening, deep, meaningful content. 100% advise anyone SERIOUS about the subject matter: TAKE IT!

I took this class because it was something that i was interested but the content is very overwhelming for anyone not well versed in sociology. Fiala is very good activist and a smart woman, but this class was not as accessible as she claimed. There were plenty of assignments that were never mentioned and the requirements never fully fleshed out.

Just finished up SOC 240, not pleased. She's an amazing activist, but a bit too condescending when teaching. If you're given requirements to do a, b, and c, she'll want you to do d, e, and f if you want an A. Doing what the requirements tell you (if there are even specific requirements given) will only get you a C.

If you follow her assignment instructions perfectly, she considers that a "C" grade. To get an "A" you have to do triple the work. She's very nice, but her homework and tests are ridiculous for a gen ed class. You never know what grade you have, or if you need to push because she grades everything all at once at the end of the semester.

Awesome stories. 3 online tests, but beware they're somewhat tough! Read over the notes from lecture carefully, because it is possible to get an A! I managed to get an A without reading the 10 lessons book, but material from her book shows up on exams sometimes.

She is a very nice and knowledgeable woman. Her classes are mainly lectures and can get pretty boring. Her tests are tough even though they are online. You usually have weekly homework worth three points.. It isn't hard to be off task during her lectures. She will help you with anything though. I think the class was tougher than it should be.

One of my best classes this semester. There are 3 online tests and they are extrememly hard, but if you go to class most of the time and know how to apply the material you should be fine.

Interesting class overall, but she tends to go off topic during lectures. Exams often cover material that wasn't mentioned in class. For the final I studied with a friend who had a different professor and aced it because they learned concepts I didn't know but that showed up on my exam.
