Comment:
Rawson is probably the cutest professor I've ever had and reminds me of the old man from Up. He makes it very clear what he wants (sharp, creative writing) and his class is fun. It does require you to go see a lot of shows, but give you a chance to explore the city. He knows a lot and though he rambles on his lectures, he really cares. Edit!!!!

My favorite professor at Pitt up until this point. Hardest part of class is learning how to juggle seeing a play and writing a paper nearly every week, but he makes class material interesting and is super intelligentpassionate about the material. Super sweet and there for his students. If you have any interest in theater at all I recommend

I love love love Shakespeare, so I was excited for this Intro course.. and Rawson was always entertaining. He has a sarcastic yet witty humor, and he kept my attention. Quizzes AREN'T that simple - always pay attention to little facts in class. Gives extra credit for interesting answers, so guess! Exam essay questions are open-ended but manageable.

Intro to Shakespeare was very manageable. Quizzes were nearly impossible, but he gives extra credit on them if you say something interesting, so write down any random fact you know about Shakespeare. Very passionate and nice... I ended up with an A-

Most classes consisted of a class discussion of recurring themes of the August Wilson plays we read, interspersed with frequent stories about his own personal interviews and discussions with August. Him knowing the author the course focused on was really cool. Pretty easy grader, especially on essays.

Intro to Shakespeare is very fun. Be ready to move quickly, a new play will be studied every 3 classes. Quizzes are hard, but curved and several are dropped. Chris is extremely nice.

This is one of my absolute favorite teachers I have EVER had. His August Wilson class taught me so much about Pittsburgh and the world of theater. His tangents are a it extreme, but they help th estudent understand more about the topic at hand, without even realizing it. Take this guy if it fits in with your requirements. It was a great experience.

A fun class, rambles on a bit and goes off on tangents. Interesting readings (which at times he will read for you with a (bad) Irish accent). Very easy grader. Owns many nice shirts.

Chris is a very friendly, funny guy... good professor. Sometimes he goes off on tangents that last a good 10-15 minutes to waste classtime. I had him for summer, so the 3+ hour class had about 2 hours of real material. He likes to show a lot of Monty Python, and almost every day there is at least one sexual reference, not quite sure why.

Chris is an awesome guy but I'd disagree with the poster who said he's an easy grader. I worked really hard and got a B, and I usually pull off As pretty easily. So yeah...take his class if you're interested in the subject matter, not if you're looking for an easy A.

Chris goes out of his way to get to know each student individually. I've never had a professor whom I felt 'cared' more than him. He's extremely knowledgable and quite possibly the coolest guy ever. I don't know what these other guys are talking about. I'd reccomend him in a heartbeat!

This class is what YOU make of it. Chris took the time to take members of our class to a performance with him, then to the Post-Gazette offices to write an on-the-fly, deadline review. I've never had another professor go out of his way like that. He's a smart, interesting teacher, but don't expect a "traditional" setting.

Rawson is a nice guy, he DOES ramble on, and he IS disorganized. But I would still recommend taking him, why? Because he is an easy grader (easy B/hard A) for those slackers out there who need to fufill requirements.

TERRIBLE!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!! you will learn NOTHING, spend a lot of money on things to review, and he'll show up 15 mins late to class everyday, and won't be at his office hours, even when you make an appointment to meet him, he put off meeting me 3 times, he's nice, but a TERRIBLE TEACHER.. STAY AWA

Grades very easy, but a discussion class soon becomes a lecture. Chris kind of rambles on, but he is a really nice guy although a bit absent minded. Papers are easy.
