Comment:

Russian 100 with Irene Hurd was one of my favorite classes while at Penn State. Her lectures are incredible, as they are well thought and full of facts one would never know. She engages students by giving examples of her travels to Russia, and tying them into her lectures. Her grading system is straight forward, and not hard if you go to class.

Irene has to be one of my favorite professors, she is always willing to help anyone that needs it. I truly enjoyed Russian 100 and totally recommend it to anyone, even if you aren't interested in Russia she makes the class a lot of fun.

I had her for Rus100 and 6 semesters of Russian language. Rus100 is unduly easy. As for the language classes, she is a good teacher who is willing to go out of her way to help you if you ask. You can learn a lot in her classes, but they're heavily grammar focused and don't touch enough on vocab IMHO. She's my favorite teacher and I'd recommend her.

Very nice woman! Her lectures can get boring but you will learn a lot about the culture of russia. Gives a review packet that is all the questions on the exam (you write in your answers from notes taken on lecutres). Easy A.

Irene is a very sincere woman who only wants her students to do well and learn Russian. She is very friendly and you will get to know her through her stories and examples used in class. She only starts taking off for attendance after a few absences. She makes learning Russian easier than you'd initially think.

One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. The whole class is on Russian History, but she tricks you into learning the history with stories of her past experiences. No textbook required because all she does is lecture. EVERY lecture is her telling stories. Can't believe a class like this was even available. Take it quick because it fills up quick.
