Comment:
Professor Zaderenko is extremely knowledgeable. I had no interest in Medieval Spanish before taking her class, but she made it bearable. She is very helpful if you go to office hours, but don't expect her to hand over an A if you don't deserve it. She is so kind and really wants her students to be interested. Take her class if you want to learn!!

She is a great teacher. Make sure you talk to her before writing your essays and you will get A's. She is very open minded and listens to everyone's interpretations in class.

She has favorites and only accepts one interpretation of texts, so when she calls on you, you basically have to guess what she's thinking. She comes off rude and her class is a little uncomfortable. The class isn't hard, it just seems to drag on. The work load is low, and if you're fluent or close to fluent in Spanish, she'll love you.

Zaderenko really knows what she's doing. She encourages participation in class and knows the answer to most questions. Your grade is based on 2 exams and one paper, which seems lazy on her part. She can also be very condescending, shutting students down with a curt "no" when they raise their hands. Did well, but did no work outside class.

She takes attendance everyday so plan on being in class & participating cause she's big on participation. She's definitely a helpful professor and gives feedback on papers/exams so that you can improve your grammar and your writing in general. Overall interesting class and great professor!

Great professor, very clear when she speaks and knows what she's talking about. If you're actually interested in Spanish lit and pay attention she goes in depth and analyzes each text. Grades are fair enough, just participate in class and you'll love her.

Prof. Zaderenko is a very sweet lady (always smiling) and a good teacher! This class requires some work, but she is a generous/fair grader. I learned a lot in this class, especially about medieval Spanish and early Spanish authors. This is a class for people interested in literature and the technicalities & history of the Spanish language.

A great teacher! Had her for 350 and 456. She's really smart and knows what she's talking about. Classes based on discussions of the texts. Not a hard grader. Tests are in essay form. Just know the readings and participate in class and you'll get an A!

apparently she sucks for upper levels, but i had her for 350 and thought she was fine. very very helpful outside of class, nice women, fair grader, and her paper assignments were easy. she's really intelligent and knowledgable. if you do the reading you'll be fine, though the section on poetry can get a little borring...

Great instructor for LS350. She really encourages students to speak and practices and give their opinions. However, don't take any courses over 300 with her, unless you are a graduate student. She is super intelligent, but she is very dry/boring about the very dry subject of Spain during the Middle Ages.

Overall a decent course. There is a lot of material to cover and we got behind sometimes, but she is very good at explaining concepts and appreciates imput. Grammar is extremely important for papers/tests, but she wants her students to do well. This is the second class I've taken with her, and it's for a reason, she's good.

A very nice woman, clearly enjoys teaching. She's picky, and that's evident in her grading, but I don't think anyone in my class ended up with a grade lower than a B-. She appreciates class participation, so speak up!

I think it's understood that she's good for LS350, but above that... no. I found her class very informative and I never got bored. I think she grades fairly, but she sometimes shoots down other people's interpretations of the text even though, hello, it's an interpretation.

I got an easy A in her LS350 class, so I took her again for 504 - BIG MISTAKE. Same lesson all semester, few grades, no way to improve your average (I got a B on one exam, A's on everything else, visited office hours- final grade, B). For upper level: STAY AWAY unless you are fluent or a grad student. For 300-level: recommended, but do the reading.

The worst teacher I've ever had at BU. She is very disorganized and erratic. She is extremely demanding but she should begin demanding to herself and not being so self-serving.

she sucks. shes really boring, a stickler for attendance, calls on you all the time, lets class out about 7 minutes late on average, and wears the same two outfits every single class...but she gives very erratic reading assgts (some nights 2 pages, some 60) and definetely has favorites in the class.
