Iris is an amazing editor and teacher. Her class is not too challenging, but that gives her students an opportunity to explore the AVID by themselves; therefore learning much more than a typical lecture class. Although when Iris does lecture, it's always been helpful and interesting.

If you like editing and are thinking about going into the industry this class is really helpful. Iris gives great feedback, even if things can drag on a bit. She's super helpful and understanding and will work with you outside of class on any project you bring to her.

Personally I loved Iris, I think people have trouble with her because she isn't there to make decisions for you. She does fight for you - but wont let you know it, plus she's very talented in her own field. She's a professional, not a cheerleader. Which is good and bad.

Iris was more obsessed with my personal history than my editing skills. For four long years she hounded me about abuse that never took place. Part of me thinks she meant well, but that's usually overcome by the truth she just loves exploitation and gossip.
