His essay criteria is unlike any other professor and very inconsistent. The text books are rarely, if ever, used. The books themselves have absolutely nothing to do with the course. He should stop teaching for a year and rebuild his course from scratch. This course have the potentials, but it is not delivering the goods.

Lousy prof - very unclear what his expectations were, and his feedback was useless. Assigned a tonne o' books to read, and only ended up needing to read TWO of them for the coursework. Not helpful towards students AT ALL.

There is a reason this guy is only allowed to teach d.ed! And he sucks at that? I don't know any other prof who simple doesn't answer questions posted by students...nor any prof with such unrealistic expectations for a 200 level class. Don't take a class with him, unless you want no help and no clarification!

Awesome teacher, awesome person. Students loved his classes. Too Bad SFU is too blind to realize that and forced him to only do distance education courses.

He is pretty full of himself. Has the students do all the work without much of his input until the last week of the semester. The workload, well this guy is confusing undergrads with PH.D. candidates. Give us a break on the readings!

Out of all of the courses taken at SFU, this was my favorite. Irwin is a great, easy-going prof, on par with Roman (who coincidentally was also his prof). I definitely recommend taking a class with Irwin.

Lots of reading, but interesting material, lots of videos in lecture, and fair tests. Tutorials were great, and very informative... just do the readings and you'll do fine
