Comment:

Ivan is a funny professor who cares about his students. I once decided not to do a homework and he tracked me down and made me do it and still gave me credit. I had turned it in two weeks late and still got full credit. He also is willing to give a practice exam that is almost identical to his tests. In my opinion, best calculus I professor.

I took Vector with Ivan and it was slightly terrifying. He is a funny guy but sometimes he goes off on tangents that seem kind of pointless. I had a really good TA which helped a lot because otherwise I would have had to teach myself a lot of the material.

Ivan's a lot of fun and easy to get along with, he's not super clear the first time through but always checks to make sure everyone understands what he's going over. I highly recommend him for anyone iffy on calc.

Teaches straight out of the book. Goes over the examples in class, gets them wrong on the board, erases them and repeats. Very boring and not worth paying attention to. I taught myself this class because it was impossible to pay attention.

with out a doubt one of the worst math teachers i have ever had. the only reason i passed the first half of the class was because i already learned the material in high school. i consider myself very good at math but nothing this guy said made any sense.

Hilarious hippy guy. He was patient when you didn't understand the concepts, made class as fun as any math class could be. Fair grader, always gave you the benefit of the doubt on tests. Extra Credit projects worth 3 percentage points EACH. Almost impossible to fail because there was possibility of recieving up to 18% added to your grade.

Never took any of his classes, but very nice and friendly. Gave me a math and cs award and I haven't even taken that many math courses at SMCM. And if I needed to take another math course, I most certainly would with him. I also believe that person who rated him badly didn't do their work or attempt to try and is just bitter.

sterling is funny and sardonic, sometimes he can screw things up and write the wrong thing on the board and hes a little offbeat. a kind soul. fair and easy tests drawn from the homework. a good option for survey. and seems like he would make a great friend, like a wizened old gandalf.

I really liked Dr. Sterling. He is a good professor, and is extremely friendly. I had him for Calc I first semester of freshman year. I am now a second-semester junior, and he still says hi to me every time he sees me around campus.
