J is a great instructor. Like many have said he has a strong understanding of what he teaches. This translates into how he teaches. He also understands that students pay for the courses and makes learning resources available on moodle (solutions to exercises, etc).

J was by far one of my favourite teachers that I've ever had at NAIT. He really knows his stuff and I always felt like it was worth my tuition and time to be in his class. He came off a bit scary at first, and he really is a tough marker, but he's actually a really nice guy!

Comment:

Jay was a great teacher, many students found him harsh and short with them. However he makes you understand what you are doing, not just glide through the course. It's a rather hard course if you have no prior experience, but completely passable and understandable if you attend classes and ask questions.

This guy is the worst instructor I've had in a long time. If you like being ridiculed in front of the entire class then ya this guy is for you. A huge bully who won't go out of his way to help you. And when you ask a question he'll just tell you to google it. You're pretty much on your own, my classmates and student tutors were much more helpful.

He may come off as a little rude at first, but he's actually quite nice once you get to know him. Knows his stuff extremely well and forces you to think for yourself instead of spoon-feeding you, which is way better for you in the long run. If you work hard and pay attention in class, you'd definitely do well.

J is a jerk, he's rude and frustrating and you hate going to class because he just does a great job making you feel like you shouldn't be in IT. That said he knows his stuff, if you work hard you will do good, he's a consistent and fair marker too. Keep quiet and pay attention and you shouldn't have anyhting to worry about.

I had J teach a couple years ago. He takes a bit to get used to. Very rough disposition. But he tells it like it is, and cuts the B.S.. He's a great teacher. He can be intimidating, but it was obvious that he was trying to help us teach ourselves.
