Went to class the first day of class then never once again. Every test answer was found online. Test are every week worth about 500-700 points, x that by 9-10 weeks of test. 1 discussion board a week worth 10 points to total about 90-100 points (not even a quarter of a test) so never once did a discussion board. Received 96%.

Worst professor I've ever had. I've taken him for two course. He doesn't care about anything. His class is not structured at all. He shows up late. Answers his phone in class. Just plays videos without giving us an idea of what he wants us to take away from it. Easy A but I need a prof willing to work and do more than show videos in class.

I've taken both the LAJ 300 and the LAJ 451 with this "teacher", and both courses were extremely disorganized and confusing. He is hard to get in touch with concerning questions about course materials, and he does not provide feedback. This is the only class I've ever gotten below a B in. If you want to keep your GPA up, don't take his classes.

I have taken other classes with Olivero before and I have to say I am greatly disappointed in him as an online teacher and will never take his classes again. He is also extremely passive aggressive if you ask him for help or god forbid you tell him one of his lectures is wrong or not working. Good luck if you take him online, you'll need it!

I showed up to the first class on a Monday and he read paragraphs from a powerpoint. Tuesday he put on a 50 minutes youtube video about Al Capone and then left. Wednesday he recapped Monday and Tuesday. Thursday we take a test online and there's no class. The only things you do are write 2-3 sentences on Wednesday and take a test on Thursday.

Comment:

Prof Olivero is a great Law professor. Lectures are extremely flexible (I went about once a week) as he really rambles and makes no sense. Go the day before a quiz or exam and he will basically give you the answers. I really learned a lot! Important: He is more worldly than book smart!!! It gives his classes a twist! Worth taking!

This class was absolutely horrendous. Olivero is a complete joke. He showed up late to class nearly everyday, and would text during his lectures. The weekly essays & tests are done through Canvas. His lectures are worthless. There is literally NO point to going to class (only like 5 out of 30 of us ever did). You need the book for the tests though.

He is the worst instructor ever. the answers on the test are different from the book. Unless you have his mind you will not do great. May of my "wrong" answers on the test I found word for word what I chose as the correct answer. He will not change it even if you prove to him he was wrong. If you can take someone else take them. Worst ever.

VERY frustrating. He uses Browser Lockdown, but won't help you at all with online discussions or tests. He passes you forward to other people. If you're having a personal crisis he won't offer much help or advice, nor will he extend options to take things late. LATE is unacceptable. It's automated and he likes it and leaves it that way.

If you want to get into law enforcement you must find a way to take classes with him. Im just finishing an LAJ 300 with him and he has tons of stories that are better learning experiences than anyything in the book. When I am in the field, he will be the one I remember and think back on.

I took Mikes research methods course as well as his online current issues. If you can at least take an online class I would take it with him. It was honestly the most interesting and easiest course I've ever taken. Mike doesn't believe in tests so no worries about mid terms or finals!

I did an online class with him, and he is also my advisor. As an instructor the information and course work was very robotic everything followed the book, and I think I would have done better (than a B) had not forgot to take a test or two, otherwise the information was great. As an advisor, you really need to be independent and self sufficient.
