This is probably the hardest class I've taken, but I learned A LOT. The homework assignments took, on average, 10 hours, but Professor Miller was always available to answer questions via email. He noticed the students who worked hard in the class, so as long as you are willing to work very hard, you do not need to worry about your grade.

Class is ridiculously hard and the homework takes hours maybe days to complete. The quizzes are pretty easy because he tells us what to study for but my only problem is that we dont get the quizzes back, even though test covers material on the quizzes. He did give us a take home exam which was nice. At least he wants his students to pass.

This teacher is insane when it comes to the honor code. Assigned seats for quizzes. Can't take notes when going over the quizzes. Never get quizzes back. Tests cover information exclusively on quizzes, but again, you can't study the quizzes you don't get back. Homeworks take about 6 hours apiece. Had to make the final take-home for everyone to pass

Extremely tough workload. He can tell ya to shut up in the class. There are 10 minute quizzes and he times it 10 minutes exactly. He counts aloud the last 10 seconds. Questions are tough. More than 2/3 of the class dropped it. You can pass, but it is more difficult than it should. That's all.

He sent me to the honor code two years ago and I didn't even cheat. He said since my answers were some percentage close to some other people I didn't even know I MUST have cheated. Terrible person. Terrible teacher. Terrible relationships with students.

Not my professor but he is responsible for all the grading and occasionally subsitutes in for class. Honestly, he is rather picky in marking off small errors but if you ask him for help via e-mail, he will do his best to answer your concerns. Keep up with the hard work and he'll notice it. What I didn't like was that he frequently yells in lecture.

Stat 250 is not an easy class but if you do the homework and study it's very possibleto get a good grade. The workload is tremendous but it's organized in such a way that you don't have to do all of it to get an A. The people who have problems with this class are just the typical lazy and not too bright students crawling around GMU.

DO not even listen to those other comments. I loved this class even though the workload was alot. Quiz every thursday. homeworks due on tuesdays. not a bad teacher-always willing to help you. my favorite teacher during my freshman year. If you have to take stats i suggest you take it with miller, he actually knows what hes talking about.

ARE YOUR SERIOUS?? The first day of class he gives us a quiz! He wrote the textbook so he makes you buy it. The work load is rediculous. If you are working and going to school do not take this guy because he simply doesn't care. All in all do not take this guy!!!

very hard but also not impossible. yes it will take you hrs (seriously HOURS) to do your hw/take home tests & u still dont know if u did them right! but good news is that you only have to do 10 of the first 20 hws and 5 of hws 21-29. only 7 out of 10 quizzes count. there's plenty of help available. good teacher & u can do it, u have to work hard.

AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS! The class is ridiculously hard to begin with, but he makes it worse with the sorry excuse of a textbook that HE WROTE! I came to every class, took notes, did the homeworks, and I have to repeat the course! Do yourself a favor and take this class either with another prof. or at NOVA if you can.

AVOID. Wrote the textbook, and it is a sorry excuse for a textbook; half of it reads like a conversation between geeks, rest is unintelligable. Tough subject matter, but made tougher than it needs to be by an opaque teaching style, poor clarity, and the text. Personally, the class totally destroyed my prior interest in statistics. Not recommended.

The class is hard, but that's because of the material and not the teacher. He is very helpful... he is willing to help with anything until you understand it, and there are a lot of chances to make a good grade, he drops your worst quiz/hw scores. The class is very structured and organized so you just have to keep up.

this class isn't that interesting and he doesn't make it much better with the text that he wrote himself. it's really hard to understand and i never really get the point of what he is trying to get across.he's just pretty confusing.i'm sure he's a nice guy but his class is really wierd and confusing.

Dont take at mason!!! go to NOVA! the way he runs the class is by far the most confusing thing i have ever encountered. If stat wasnt gonna be difficult enough to the average student, then the way he went about teaching was radiculous! There is no book, just his old class notes... they are freaking hard to read!

I thought I would hate stat, and heard a lot of horror stories, but he was really an interesting, energetic teacher and I got a lot out of the course (which actually has helped alot in later science courses). Do what he says in class: KEEP UP WITH THE WORK. If you go to class and do the work, you will do fine. Don't be afraid to ask him for help.
