I love Parent as a teacher but not as a person, Very hard to communicate with him and have experienced the brash and abrasive comments mentioned in other review but he is very clear in class and is very knowledgable in his field!

I will admit when I had Dr. Parent for APSC200, i really disliked him, and was very worried to have him as a teacher in third year. But for CHEE311 and CHEE490 he was an amazing prof, nothing like he was in APSC200. He is incredibly caring, very clear in lecture, and tutorials are great . He's not really available outside of class, but the TAs are

Comment:
While class with Professor Parent is unavoidable for a CHEE Student, do whatever you can to avoid discussion outside of class, as you will leave feeling defeated, disrespected, and talked-down-to. Parent is condescending and abrasive, and leads an extremely bad example of professionalism and communications.

Terrible prof, makes outlandish, offensive comments and does VERY little to care about his students. His classes are a joke and he's so rude whenever you ask a question you might as well drop out with how he makes you feel. Stay away from parent! WORST PROF

fair enough, does his best to make the organic chem clear and he succeeded in doing so. Does not like failing students. Good prof.

Notes are clear, topic is straightforward but he challenges you with the design projects. Easy course to do decently, tough to do well. Somewhat frustrating when asking for help as he tries to guide you to the answer instead of just giving it to you.

I hate thermo, and Dr. Parent is happy he'll no longer be teaching it (this was his last year w/ chee311). On the bright side, if you attend his classes and ask for help when you need it, you'll do fine. Very good overall.
