Shes a great professor. If youre looking for an easy A, dont take her class. However, if you want to experience interesting lectures, this is the professor to take. Theres a lot of reading (about 5-6 novels for a 300 level class). She grades fairly. If you make the effort to do well, she notices that. Great professor. Will take her class again.

Amazing lecturer. In her Race in America course, we talked about classism, exploitation of labor, and much more. It was an eye-opening class.

A lot of reading but I learned so much. Foley gives feedback and will help students improve their writing. She teaches from a Marxist perspective but doesn't chastise students who don't share her views. Our topic was Race in America after 1950. This class is an excellent choice if you're interested in US history and social justice.

I liked her, although the class isn't what I expected. she loves to give out reading assignments that are long. She likes to give pop quizzes but if you miss them they won't count against you. She is very helpful and so is her assistant Naomi.

Dr. Foley consistently berates students who do not align with her strict political views. If you decide to participate you better pray that you know the exact answer she is looking for. Otherwise, she will embarrass you in front of your peers. Also, is it really necessary to constantly give out 400+ pages to read weekly?

Very knowledgeable, but tough. She's an old school professor in her grading and lecture practices. Show up, do the reading, or else you will get called out and embarrassed. You also won't do very well in her class if you aren't prepared to spend hours a week on the source material.

Inspired me to love literature, proletarian bent, question everything and think for myself. Somewhat intense, ever-fair, and boo-hoo to those who lament having to read! Sad day if any prof lowers expectations! Bravo B Foley

Professor Foley expects a lot from you: she assigns a lot of readings, participation in class, and excellent writing. She is a hard professor but in no way unfair. (C'mon guys - she is simply demanding college-level work.) I learned a lot in her class and look forward to taking another class of hers again.

Worst English Professor at Rutgers ever!!! She wants to convert her students into Communists, she has favorites and expects you to read a lot. Her quizzes and final exams are ridiculously hard and paper topics are really hard, she has a bad grading system and tells you ridiculous reasons why she gave you a D. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Outstanding Professor. She does a magnificent job tying the readings in with current events, politics and philosophy. If you are a good student who is genuinely interested in knowledge and academia, you will do well. You must also do the reading. Go in their with an open mind and she will change your life.

I liked her class, despite the lengthy reading assignments (100 pages per home assignment), but if you can get through that you will get an A for sure... Just pay attention and raise your hand. Her paper are going to be frustrating, but just state what you feel and BACK it up with her word and quotes.

STAY AWAY FROM HER...SHE PLAYS FAVORITES...SHE USES THE CLASSROOM PLATFORM TO FURTHER HER OWN PERSONAL AND POLITICAL AGENDA. EXTREMELY LEFT WING IN HER VIEWS AND UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO CONFORM TO HER IDEAS AND OPINIONS; YOU WILLNOT BE SUCCESSFUL IN HER CLASS. HER GRADING IS UNFAIR AND THEIR IS NO TALKING TO HER BECAUSE SHE IS ALWAYS RIGHT

A superb professor who effectively tied political, economic, and social initiatives in the shaping of modern race-relations in the United States. Typically lazy, run-of-the-mill college students will NOT benefit from her tutelage. RECOMMEND!

I truly enjoyed having professor foley. She has been added to my list of favorite professors at Ru. Even though we had alot of readings I read them all and enjoyed them especially yonnondio. Lastly, I don't think prof foley gives A's randomly, you must work for them. I know I had to work for mine and not just from talking in class

had her for amer. lit- social class. she was probably the best professor i've ever had, very engaging and interesting. she knows what she's talking about and while she may assign many readings they're worth it tho. do the readings and open your mouth in class and you'll be fine. great professor, definitely changed the way i thought about the world

The person beneath me is complaining because he/she was the idiot who didnt want to do the readings. She is an amazing teacher, regardless of your political views. If she sees that your trying, she will give you an A. Talking in class is the guaranteed way to get an A in the class
