This class was very interesting. Pr Eby clearly knows what he is talking about and seems genuinely passionate about it. He is very nice and willing to answer any question. Unfortunately, he does not use Moodle at all and should. However, I would definitely recommend his class.

Jack is one of the most knowledgeable professors one will ever meet. If you go to him for help, he is there. If you don't attend all of his classes, you might not get all of the information because he does not put notes on Moodle. He gives lecture-style classes, and it is better to sit at the front because he has a quiet speaking voice.

Nice guy when talking to him but the material he wants students to know is unmanageable (especially for a 100 level course). His tests are not fair and do not reflect the material in an effective way. Expects too much and explains too little.

Does not provide extra help if you go and see him. Doesn't prepare students for the extremely hard tests. Expects students to know everything he has taught throughout semester (400 page book: know it all or don't pass). Expects students to LOVE music theory even if your just taking the class as a supplementary course.

He doesnt write notes on the board, he doesn't use moodle for anything (especially notes). His tests are extremely hard and very broad so you dont know what to study for. If you dont like music that much and dont like a rigid-in-his-ways, old teacher DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Nice guy, very enthusiastic about classical music. Fair marker on essays but I felt his tests were a bit hard for an intro class, especially the listening components. Definitely take if you're interested in the material.

Jack is a wonderful person to sit down and talk to. He's a great man, but tends to be boarding. If you are planning on passing his classes you better be prepared to sit through boring lessons and study for tests weeks in advance. Good luck.

I love Jack as a person, he knows everything there is to know about almost everything. However with that said as a teacher he is a little hard to follow because he moves very fast and his test can be very hard to do well. I believe many other students in his classes would agree.

A knowledgeable man! He is very passionate about his music, but don't take his course if you want to do well. Prepare for your average in school to drop a good 10% because of his long tests and pointless questions!
