He's really not that hard. I personally found Kiledjian's exam (the other professor who teaches the course), harder than his. I studied and did really well on Hart's exam. You just need to put in some time instead of studying the night before. His notes are everywhere, but if you ask him a question he's good to answer.

Comment:

Teaches 2nd part of Fund. Cell/Dev Bio. His exam is the hardest. His lectures are dry and easy to get bored in, but take good notes because he tests off of what he says in class. His exam was really unclear in parts. Was helpful in office hours. I didn't use the book but it might not be a bad idea to supplement with for his part of the course.

I like this guy a lot. He's a good lecturer and his exams are fair. The people who complain are the ones who don't study or go to lecture. If you don't read the chapters and go to lecture then you will still have trouble with the class. You need to do both. But c'mon, this is a 400 level graduate course. Dr. Hart is a good guy.

You have to record all his lectures. He discusses things that are nowhere to be found in the textbook.I had to spent a lot of time searching on the internet to get clarity on some of the things he mentioned in the class. Most of the trick questions come from this material. Not hard to get an A if you work hard.

Before Hart took over, I had an A in this course. I love the subject, but he ruined this class. Very difficult to understand, no matter how much work you do. Assumes that you've taken courses that Fundamentals of Cell and Developmental Bio is the prerequisite for. A really nice guy, but a horrible professor.

the class is ridiculously hard. he is an extremely tough professor when it comes to exams. all questions are very detailed. he expects you to know stuff. reading is mandatory. you have to know class notes and book for exam. if u can take adv. cell bio and get away with this class, i suggest you do that. curves are not the best

Terribly disorganized. Draws everything in the same freakin diagram so you have no idea what's going on. Exams are horrible, part open ended, part mc. wish i took cell bio instead. Hart is too damn smart for me.

Great guy if you want an advisor, but as a teacher-as-force-feeder...atrocius. Attending his lectures as a means to learn the material is to no avail; lectures for sleep or looking at pictures of flourescent nucleus-great. Talks a lot about the subject but doesn't teach any concepts at all. Learning from the book is better, but the book is bad too.

Nathan Hart is a fairly nice guy outside of the classroom, but the organization of his lectures are appallingly cryptic. He will begin lecture on a particular topic, break off in a different direction, and then towards the end, revert to the original topic. Surprisingly, this scheme appears intentional. Maybe he's dyslexic?

Definitely one of the nicest professors I've met. Ineffective lecturer for osmotic lecture learners. His exams require you to study every single detail even mentioned in lecutre or in his notes thorughouly even if he glosses over it. Only goes through the core concepts in detail during lecture, but not that well.Exam curve is definitely benefical.

Hart is not that bad of a professor. Everybody giving him a bad review is biased cause they got bad grades. Study after each lecture not a week before the exam. About 5-8 q out of the 60 are tricky. Know everything, understand it. Ask him questions, he does help. Go to class b/c he tells you what on the slides are impor. Read the chap.
