Dr. Pitkin is clever. He doesn't like lectures, and will often joke about how much he doesn't. He leaves room for students not to come to class once or twice and still get an A. He makes a lot of jokes, and is spectacular at keeping you focused on what he says. His assignments are fun. Bring a calculator and you'll do fine.

He is a fantastic teacher, I wish he had taught my lecture because then I might have enjoyed astro1010. He is very smart, willing to help you out if you need it, funny in an old man way, and doesn't expect everyone to be an Astro expert because he knows it is a requirement. I would take him for more classes if I could but unfortunately I can't. A++

Dr. Pitkin is great. He explains labs well and will do so until everyone understands. Labs don't take the entire class time - ever. Easy grader. Willing to help students who are there just to get the credit and don't enjoy science even though he does. Nice dude.

I have not had Mr. Pitkin at utc but when I was in high school he was my teacher and he was and still is the nicest man. He actually taught us what he taught his college students. He wants his students to do well.

Had to meet with him to do a makeup lab for another teacher. Extremely flexible and kind. Worked with me to figure out a good time, and even when I got confused and went on the wrong day, he still set the lab up for me. Kept checking on me to make sure I didn't have questions and explained proceedure clearly. Wish he was my normal lab instructor.

I propose we get a petition to get Jack on as the REAL lab instructor. He makes the lab tick. He cares. He will help you understand. Always go to him with questions rather than the "official" instructor. Jack won't make you cry out of humiliation and frusteration like the other has been known to do.
