Professor Brown is phenomenal. The in-class experiments really do help facilitate greater understanding of the material, and can be fun as well. Professor Brown is also just a generally nice guy.

He is good but not good at explaining. Read book and do problem sets they help you understand his class and make sure you do the reading.

He is the worst professor that I have ever had. Takes such ridiculous paths to explaining material that you will start to reconsider your understanding of the most basic concepts. He does not know how people learn, and he thinks we all go home and look up extra stats work to do. He is the worst. Avoid him at all costs

He is so great, and I didn't even intend to major in economics before I had him, but now that is my plan. He loves what he teaches, and does these really awesome experiments that simulate real life financial and economic situations. Also, there is a group project but only one section is group work so it won't mess you up if the group is bad.

John Brown is a good teacher if you already have a basic understanding of the material because he teaches as if you do. If you take his classes and work hard you will do well, but you have to put the time in. He is nice enough, but his organization on the board is sometimes hard to follow. Good luck

Prof Brown is a truly wonderful professor, although you have to be willing to do the readings and take good notes. He is flexible with assignments, but they can be lengthy. He does have a dry sense of humor. If you bring insight and knowledge, and do the work, you will be rewarded with his class.

I have had an easier time reading Dostoevsky than I have reading John Brown's worksheets. His lectures are convoluted and the homework is almost incomprehensible. Brown has an at best tenuous grasp of the English language. If you need help in this class, see a TA. They're very helpful, even if Brown publicly bickers with them in class.

Comment:
Professor Brown is honestly one of the worst professors that I have had at Clark. His lectures are terrible, the reading is pointless, and he apparently gives 200 level work to his intro courses. If you can get past the convoluted lectures and see a TA for help, you can get a good grade. Bottom Line: he is awkward and his entire class is awkward

I know he looks like Mr. Bean and all + that's cute, but I really thought his teaching style was awful. His lectures lacked clarity and left me confused. I tried to follow along by reading the book, but it didn't help. He is a nice guy. It may not be his fault; I hear all econ profs are like him

He's a little boring, but is obviously very enthusiastic about what he's teaching. I went to talk to him after I got a bad grade once, and he raised it because I participate a lot in class.

He is a good professor, little boring but if you participate he will actively engage you in discussions, always will stay that little bit after and talk to you. Great coordination with online materials.
