Professor Semura's Physics classes were the most popular on the PSU campus. He kept up with the curve of the leading edge of technology and make connections across the spectrum of mathematics and physics. Jack's class was a hoot. Conversations were eclectic, and the subject matter of 'truly modern' physics fascinating. I only wish he took the time to explore some of the topics with a little more rigor as they warrant. However, he's good to chat with after class, about theoretical physics or stuff in general...

Jack is the man. He is fun and easy to learn from, although the ideas in Complexity and the Universe may be a bit more interesting if you have a background in biology, physics, chemistry and computer science. Jack is not out to punish anyone with his exams, come to every class, read every week and you will do great.

Jack Semura was the lead teacher of my favorite college class, ever. Didn't seem like many other students grasped the staggeringly beautiful implications of chaos and complexity theory (it's a cross-listed UNST science class) but that didn't matter, really. He has a great understated excitement about the material and can be very helpful one-on-one.
