Liked her as a person, NOT as a prof. Uses way too much jargon, even in first year courses. She makes it impossible to absorb the enormous amount of knowledge she expects us to both memorize and understand, unclear expectations, exams are ridiculously difficult. Had all late 80s but struggled trying to get a fixed 80 in his class. BEWARE!

God awful. She doesn't even enjoy teaching it seems. I would deter ANYONE from taking any of her classes. No one ever knows what she's talking about and yet she expects the world of you on exams and essays. The absolute worst prof I have ever had and I don't think it could get any worse.

Prof. Newman is a great professor. Her teaching style is different, but it all comes down to how much students participate. Newman provides excellent sources that are practical for use after graduation. Class exercises are a good way to simulate how things are done in real life- something that University students are often deprived of.

Most unorganized professor I have had in both secondary and post secondary. I am in my final year of University and have never been so frustrated by a professor. Parliament simulations are a waste of time and her lectures are so scattered and unorganized. She has a wonderful character but need to get her stuff together.

A nice person but an awful professor. Takes forever to hand back assignments, months, Horrible lecturer hard to study from, I recommend not taking her as a prof if you can help it. I have a required course and only she teaches it next year and I will wait a year and hope someone else teaches it.

Jacquie is a fantastic prof. She has a critical mind which is inspiring. Her lectures can be a bit unorganized but if you attend class and talk (knowing something about the subject!) then you can get great grades. Awesome prof, my favourite of my 4 years at Western.

I went into this course with absolutely no interest at all in Canadian politics. Professor Newman made it bearable and in some instances quite interesting. She's one of the few profs who is not only engaging and interesting, but also always willing to help her students. No wonder she's the Chair of the Department.
