Dr. Winston is a fabulous professor. She is extremely knowledgable and explains concepts with clarity. She highly encourages class participation and discussions, and is full of great energy. I appreciate her feedback on my writing and all the content that she includes in her lectures. I highly recommend taking her classes if you can.

Super nice lady...but DO NOT take her!! Grades WAY TOO HARD on notes! Very vague on assignment descriptions and is not clear as to what she wants.DO NOT miss class it hurts your grade! Even though she only collects reading notes 5 times in the semester, if you do not turn in your notes once you are doomed! AVOID HER!!!!!!

Poor quality prof/class. Lectures are discussion based, so no note taking is necessary. Guidelines for grading are incredibly unclear and all of the points in the class besides attendance/final are subjective. She thinks WAY too highly of herself and her teaching methods, and she is an unreliable authority in her field. Likes to offend people.

If you enjoy doing home work that never gets collected except 5 times randomly during the semester,then only getting partial credit for that work, listening to random tangents after spending 30 mins on how to cite a source, well then this is the class for you! Great class. This class is life changing. She structures the class so that it is an open discussion and allows everyone to speak their mind. She does do random collections of the reading and has given a few extra credit assignments. Overall a very good professor and I really changed my way of thinking about Early Christianity.

She knows what she's talking about, and her view of church history from the marginalized is good, but she plays favorites (those who speak up in class) and she doesn't always make clear what she wants from the random note collections, so take thorough notes. She always has a certain point that she wants you to make, but figuring it out can be hard.

coming from someone who needs structure in their classes, this was a pretty frustrating class. There's no clarity with lectures, but just a lot or rambling. Work was decent, and I surely learned from it so that was nice, but everything else was very frustrating. I would not recommend this class.

Winston is a great professor. She is fun and loves to laugh. She really cares about her students and loves to get to know them. lots of reading, reading verification assignments, a presentatioon, and a 10-12 page paper. makes you work hard but you learn a lot. She is very knowledgable but she is also quite opinionated (it makes it fun). good prof!

Dr. Winston is AMAZING! She really challenges you with all the reading (LOTS), but she teaches it in a way AND teaches you to read it in a way that really helps you learn. I don't like history at all, but I took her for both sections of church history and loved it! The class is really interesting and she is also very helpful and understanding.

If i had to pick one professor who changed my life the most I would undoubtedly pick her. Dr. Winston is the most amazing woman and scholar I have ever met and i assure you will learn from her. Her readings are long, and interesting, and she makes you do the work through her reading verifications. 2hrs of reading a day, but worth every second

Amazing, smart, helpfull. She knows what she is talking about and you learn a lot if you want to. Going through cancer right now...really sad. I plan on taking her again. Readings are long and regular, but you will not regret learning the things you learn. Great professor!
