Comment:
He seems like a nice professor, but he is wildly unhelpful. He claims that he puts a lot of work into the study guides but then puts in several repeated question and questions that were not covered in class. Even if you read the book you'll have a tough time in this class. He's the only one who teaches cell bio rn tho so good luck bio majors.

Hes a nice guy, but I would never take him again. He didnt respond to any emails and was very unorganized. I studied hard in this class; I read the book jumped through all the hoops and I still dont think its good enough for an A. I feel like he cares how his students perform, and its up to you to go to class, but it didnt help me whatsoever.

All he does is read off of his slides in class and talk about his cancer research. His tests are extremely hard based off of the material he goes over in class. You need to read the text book that is the only way you will learn and do decent on the tests. Do well in the lab cause that will help your grade.

He's a nice guy. You need to read the textbook thoroughly to prepare for tests. If you do that, this class should not be too difficult. The lab was easy.

Dr. Valluri is one if not the most intelligent person I have met. For this reason his tests are overly difficult and it is as if he doesn't realize they are as difficult as they are. To make things worse, even if everybody in the class failed and you did above average do not expect any form of curve.

Lectures are very fast-paced and not all test material is directly covered in class. Anything in the textbook goes. Tests are multiple choice, but very difficult and some questions seem to have multiple correct answers. Examples he gives in class are definitely used on the test so show up. He norm references at the end of the semester.

Dr. Valluri is very nice and cares about his students. The class is VERY tough and exam averages are low, but I found myself learning the material and connecting the dots towards the end of the semester. This class is not an easy A, and effort is needed on your end in order for you to succeed. Attendance is not required but I suggest going to class

He was very kind, but I never learned anything from his lectures. He went on and on about topics that were irrelevant to the class, and we never made it through all of the topics that were supposed to be covered in the class. There were 3 tests throughout the semester in which he gave study guides for, but the study guides didn't help at all.

All he does is lecture. Powerpoint information is rarely seen on the test. Tests are based on lectures and mainly the book. Study Guides do not go with tests either. Best Bet is to be familiar with the information.

His tests are worded weird and are extremely hard. Most of the material he covers on his power point slides are not even on the exams. Your best bet is to just study the book.

Only professor I've ever cared about at Marshall University. If you attend class, he will do anything he can to see you succeed. Use the book (seriously), take lecture notes, and watch a lot of animations. He is very accessible during his office hours and will go over anything with you. Great class for MCAT prep too. Overall, great man!

All he does is lecture. Some of the things on his exams are not on test. At least he curves. I was able to go talk to him about my exams though, which was helpful. He's pretty nice. If you do not go to class, I don't think you would do very well.

Dr. Valluri is a nice man, but Khan Academy is ten times better than him. His exams are poorly worded, and he acts like his tests are the pinnacle of higher education. He also includes content on his exams that he tells you that you do not need to know for the exams. He is rarely in his office during office hours. His lectures were unimpressive!

Tests are super hard and the class average is usually like a D. He curves some. Lab plays a huge part. Super nice guy but pretty tough. Super smart and sometimes makes it hard to understand material in class.

Dr. Valluri is very smart and knows what he's talking about, but sometimes it's hard to make sense of what is actually going on. If you aren't familiar with the basic structure of biology you will struggle. There are online quizzes for each chapter along with an online textbook for 10% of your grade and your lab which counts as 25%.

Dr. Valluri is an awesome professor. He is always there for you and is willing to really help you out as long as you ask him during his office hours. He really cares about his students, and is really passionate about his class. He will sometimes digress and talk about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, this is never tested, but it is interesting

Comment:
Dr. Valluri was often condescending and insulting. Not only was he unprepared for lectures, he also used valuable class time to discuss points of his research which were not tested on. The exams never covered the material he said to prepare for. (Ch 25 stuff on the Ch 13 exam etc.) Would not take again.

Comment:
As an honors student, I never expected to repeat a course, yet I am. Cell Bio with Valluri is honestly the hardest class I have taken (yes, harder than Organic). His test questions are unclear, worded strangely, and often have more than one answer. The key to passing is ignoring the lectures and reading the book thoroughly. Would not take again.

I took Dr. Valluri for intersession which is apparently easier than the Fall and Spring semesters. He is almost always late so you can be late and he would never know. I recommend taking Genetics before this class to make it a lot easier. The tests are really hard however Dr. Valluri explains concepts well and even gave 50 extra credit points.

Comment:
Typical Marshall professor. Knows what hes talking about, but reads from the power points with somewhat minimal explanation, then tests you on material barely mentioned in class. Words questions on tests confusingly and spends anywhere from 10-30 minutes per class ranting about cancer and diabetes. Very repetitive when he gets on his soapbox.
