This class is a lot more chemistry-based than I expected but it is doable. Labs are basically pointless but he grades them easy. Tests aren't bad either. Attendance is mandatory which sucks because he races through the powerpoints and posts them on canvas anyways. Fair, passionate professor and I would take him again.

His class is very unorthodox. It isn't like most classes, there are 3 10-page papers due with a week of each other but dr barnes is extremely smart and you have to show effort for him to help you. He liked me a lot cuz I seemed to work hard. if you get on his good side and give effort an A is definitely doable

A lot of people didn't like his teaching style, but I really liked him! It might have just been because he really liked me, but that's mainly because I laughed at his jokes and such. Got a 99/100 in his class so I really can't complain about the boring classes.

Dr. Barnes is probably the smartest guy I've met. His lectures are based on power points but he mostly talks from his head. He likes for you to learn by using what you learn in practice by giving you 3 papers due and a huge group project at the end of the semester. He isn't difficult if you listen and follow the rubric. Extremely helpful.

Dr. Barnes is a pretty straightforward guy. Kind of old school but if you work hard, treat him with respect, and participate in class he will like you. About 3 papers, group project, Mid Term, and Final. Yes quite a bit of work, but if you show effort in your work he won't grade harshly. Lectures are pretty boring but he is a very intelligent man.

Worst class I've ever taken. I got Kicked out of class for checking one of his emails. He didn't care, he though't that should have been done prior to class. Huge power issues. Loves to talk down to students. He should NOT be teaching.

Barnes is a great guy but prepared to hate your life in this class. 3 huge papers due 1 week apart and lecture is SO boring. Don't waste money on the textbooks. You don't learn anything from them. If you have to take this class, get to know him outside of class. Getting an A is easy if you put in the effort though.

Dr. Barnes is a one-in-a-million profesor. He genuinely cares about his students and their success in his course and in college. His lectures can be dry, but as long as you try to stay engaged by taking notes you'll do well. LOTS of writing in this course... prepare yourself. Do yourself a favor and get to know him! He is a great guy and teacher.

Barnes barnes barnes...his lectures are a WASTE!!!! It isnt often that he stays on topic anyway because he talks about his personal life so much. The class is based on group work, so if you have a bad group, you will get a bad grade, so choose wisely.

the book and lectures are completely pointless but there are no test or quizzes and only 3 group projects and a final project, that if you follow the guidlines, you get a 100! very easy even if i dragged myself to class. hes approachable and talks about past students a lot which is annoying! dont buy the book and a take your laptop to surf the web!

He makes the class harder than it needs to be, talks wayyy over students heads, and is an egoist. Never used the book in class once, and died a little bit every time I stepped in his class. He has no reason to be teaching. He only does it so he can have "power" over people. He was more interested in his own investments and projects than helping us.

Barnes truly cares about his students. No tests or quizes, so your grade is comprised of three 15 pt projects and a 55 pt final project. The projects take time but they are all group. To be honest, i zoned out during his lectures, or did research for the projects. He is extremely smart and loves listening to your ideas... Work hard.

He'll try to TERRIFY you the first 2 or 3 lectures, but he's really not that bad; all bark, no bite. You'll get 100 on all 3 papers and as long as you get on his good side early on, probably the final project too. No tests. Don't bother reading the book.

Class wasn't that hard, but his teaching style is horrible. His lectures are all on creative thinking terms that we never use, and he spends half his time talking about his personal life and his student research partner. He even kicked someone out of the class permanently for checking their email in class, and I think it was for their project.

idk why everyone is hating on prof barnes he is AMAZING! I wanted to go to class every class! If I could take him again I would! He is so fair and cares so much for his students; wants to lay the foundation for freshman when he could be teaching graduates or have taken jobs that would pay dbl what he makes here. He's is a absolutely terrible professor. I put so much work into this class and got nothing out of it. He gave me a 0 on one of my project because i didn't have the exact APA format he wanted. From that point on the best grade i could have gotten in that class was a B. He gave a kid a WP for being on his email. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
