Comment:
Professor Zivich is unique, which makes him misunderstood I think. He gives you space but is there when you need him (sometimes you need to seek him out). After teaching for so long he's still very passionate, and if you show effort he notices. Very respectful, intelligent, and a neat guy. I don't actually know my grade, and the semester's done.

Took for a night class, not allowed to listen to music while working which is frustrating. Knows what he is talking about when giving advice, but almost gives too much advice. Sometimes his advice is him telling you what to do with your project instead of a suggestion. Demonstrates how to use tools and do things if you don't know how. Really cares

If you want or expect to be coddled like a child, take someone else. If you're serious about pursuing the fine arts and want honest, constructive criticism, from a very knowledgeable professor, then he is your prof. It took me while to warm up to his style, and his suggestions aren't really suggestions (do what he says), but he is a good teacher.

I think that Zivich is a little tough, he just set standards for students. If you want things easy then drop out of college. He make sure you understand techniques and concepts however, if you disagree with him make sure you have a crystal clean ag.

Heartless, harsh and condescending are the best words to describe him. He expects everyone to be Michelangelo, and if you are not as good as the legendary artist you are horrible. Or so he thinks. Avoid this teacher.

I love art, but this class is horrible. He grades harshly and is confusing. He will mark up your drawing to the point where you cannot erase it. Avoid this teacher or your GPA will suffer.

I had him for life drawing and would dread coming to class. He will draw on and erase your work as your doing it and he grades you extremely harshly. Also demands you be as good as Michelangelo the first day of class. Seriously.

Very knowledgable--an excellent resource. He is strict and does expect a lot, but that is to push you to do your best. The "his way" attitude is not bc he thinks his way is best, but bc he teaches fundemental drawing; if you can't understand basic anatomy/physiological structure, you won't ever succeed in abstracting it.

I had him for advanced watercolor and it was horrible, I would always dread going. Rather than seeing art as objective, he believes there is only one way to do it, his way. He flat out told us that no one will ever do anything new, that everything has already been done. It was creatively stifling and I would not recommend it to any art student.

I do not like this professor at all. He is very arrogant and condescending, and changes his mind to the point of driving one nuts. If you're a cute girl, though, he will like you and go easy on you.

Prof Zivich knows what you are capable of and will continually push you to reach your potential. He will continually challenge you to articulate and defend your ideas in order for you to become a competent and coherent artist. Accept that his insights and criticisms are valid and you will see your work improve beyond what you thought possible.

Um, I made a statement before about him, saying I didn't like him. However now that I look back on it, I learned a ton. He was a great teacher for fundamentals. Dude, is super strict, he keeps you the whole time in class. It sucks, but he is good.

Excellent professor. You will learn a lot more than you expect to and his longer sections occassionally seem very long, but always productive. I recommend him very highly especially if you care about art and don't mind showing it.

DO NOT buy grounding wire from radio shack , it way too expensive ,and leaves residue on your hands. Check out Lowes, green clothes line wire, pretty cheap, easy to bend. Oh yeah, Zivich is a good teacher

Zivich has a lot of brains but little heart. He doesnt understand students well nor does her care to and imposes his ideas on them. He is however very knowledgable and can be insightful just not to considerate about it.

Aw, Zivich is the man! He offers very good advice and ideas that will contribute greatly to your work. He likes unique and personal ideas. He's worth going the extra mile for. Make your paper mache an hour before class so it can cool, buy aluminum wire now (40ft. grounding at Radio Shack), and tear your newspaper at home to have good class time!
