Jim Burns is a Great teacher when he's actually teaching, however, he is extremely disorganized, unprofessional, and does respect the students enough to turn the grades in anywhere near on time. Although he'll tell you the system has failed the students, it's obvious to me that he's failed the students far more than the system ever could.

Class notes for this subject consist of Dr. B reading the textbook to you. No joke. He is not timely on grades and at times the grading is arbitrary. If you need help, and pester him, he will go out of his way to assist. But you've got to be proactive. I'ev had no personal issues with him, but would not want to sit though another ME 514 class.

Dr Burns is a true a'hole. He may on the surface seem like a nice guy. The fact is he lies to his students frequently, cancels class without notice and does not grade anything including exams. One of those people you either love or hate. For poster #1 you cant even begin to imagine the bull that surrounds providing the best education for students. Why should you be harassed for trying to give students the knowledge to succeed? Poster #4 stop being a whiny baby, do your work and shut it. Extremely clever and witty. Fun to be around.

He has a horrible reputation and faculty want him "out" for good reason but has tenure. Thinks everyone is out to screw him so in turn, he screws everyone, faculty and students. I worked with him for 1.5 years, I left the school getting an A in a class he did not care about teaching. You will end up disliking his teaching to say the least...

I work with him side by side for my Senior project, I'll admit he's hard but if everyone knew what sacrifices he has made just to better our school they would respect him more. He doesn't even take pay for half of the things he does, appreciate his knowledge
