Professor Carter's lectures are boring, i almost fall asleep listening to him every MWF. He does not explain material, just does examples from the chapters and expects students to know everything. Went to him with questions and he laughed in my face. Very rude. don't take unless you want to fail.

Comment:

Carter's teaching style is pretty boring, but the class is easy enough as long as you pay attention and actually work on the practice problems before his tests. He is unapproachable & kind of makes you feel like you're bugging him if you go to his office hours for extra help, but he's not awful. Just study a lot for his tests and show up to class.

He is good at teaching the material in an understandable way. Homework is optional but DO IT! The homework questions are going to be the exact same thing as the test but there are only 4 tests so if you bomb one its over. Happened to me made Bs on all other tests and failed one and it made my grade drop from a B to a C.

The class is very heavily notes based. He doesn't do a great job at explaining things, but if he does the explanation would be word for word from the text book. There's no graded homework so you really have to study for the tests because there's only four test grades in the class.

I would never in a million year takes this class again. He was the most disrespectful professor I have ever had. He doesn't care about the students and could not teach a student if his life depended on it. He grades test extremely hard and if you don't do it his way its wrong. He honestly should find another profession.

I would not suggest taking his class. He makes such easy concepts into something impossible to understand. His grading system is absurd, and he does not count any partial credit. He also does not care if you get the right answer if it is not done his way. He's snapped at the class multiple times, and is very unapproachable. Do not take him!

Really cares about his students, just make sure you do the homework!! He never grades homework or takes attendance so make sure you actually do the homework to do well on the tests

I'm not great at math, but this class was gibberish. He's monotonous and doesn't explain things well unless you ask him exactly what you don't understand. Attendance not mandatory but if you skip class you won't know whats going on. 5 quizzes, 3 tests, 1 final exam. Do the homework or you won't know how to solve the problems on the tests & quizzes.

He's been teaching for 25 years at the college of Charleston... this is a problem. It is clear that he does not know how to 1) make information relatable or memorable, 2) does not care about the success of his students 3) his working knowledge of the material is actually questionable. Not a personable teacher at all which is fine but tests ask for specific and difficult methods to answer easy problems (you don't get any credit if you don't use his method). Class avg for one test was a 53 and he didn't allow extra credit or a curve for it. I'm fairly good at math and hated this class. I would not recommend taking him

I am in Dr. Carter's class right now and I am not doing terrible, but it is because I am working my butt off. He does not care to learn a single students name and he is monotone and shows very little expression. I would not recommend taking his class.

Dr. Carters classes are way harder than they need to be. I have been a math major sometime now and this was by far the hardest class I have taken. I do not believe that I failed the class but it was that Dr. Carter did not provide enough to the students to pass. If you like math do not take his classes because you won't like it after...

Not a very good professor. I am fairly good at math, but this class is the hardest class I have taken and its not because the material is hard, but because he grades harshly and quizzes you after you have moved on to the next chapter. His test are extremely difficult and no matter what you do its difficult to pass. He's no help and class is boring.
