Comment:

Professor Garrison is a good lecturer, but lectures do not always cover information that will help with the homework. He typically spends all lecture on derivation and theory with several instances of the application. Travels a lot and is somewhat disorganized. Fairly little structure to the course besides homework and a final paper.

Comment:

Dr. Garrison is a very good lecturer, he is extremely knowledgeable in radio navigation and remote sensing. If you don't understand something in class, he will help you afterwards to understand the concepts.

Dr. Garrison covered the material very well. He did go a little too in-depth to some topics but it was ok. Less/easier homework in this class than 575 but still valuable to learn the material. His specialty in signals of opportunity is some powerful knowledge to gain. Not always responsive on email but he is very helpful during office hours.

He is a very knowledgeable and intelligent professor His presentations are very detailed and he is able to articulate the material well. Homework was hard and occasionally there were typos with the assignments that would lead to extra frustration but the project is easy if you put in the time. He doesn't say it much but read the book, it has clues!

Dr. Garrison course was one the best courses I've even taken. It's challenging but you will learn the subject. The homework give you a chance to work with real world data and are practical. However, they will take a very long to complete. I suggest working in a group. He prob gets a bad rep because people aren't willing to put in the work!

Expects you to be as much of an expert as he is. He makes the material way harder than it has to be. He will ask the class for questions, the one genius kid says no, so he moves on. Is not approachable at all. Makes you feel stupid for asking any question. If you can find a different professor, do so now.

Worst teacher in AAE to date. Senior design project not based on overall knowledge gained in undergrad. Classes do not support project topics and are unstructured. Not willing to listen to suggestions, rude, interrupts during presentations and thought processes.

Worst professor in AAE. He's an EE professor in disguise. His class is unstructered and provides little direction. He assumes we are technical experts but we're not, i.e. we are still UNDERGRADS. He wastes time in lecture. His decisions are completely unsupported by facts, or at least he does not tell us any reasoning for requirements.

Comment:

Took two graduate level classes with him. You need to know him better to learn from him. Storm into his room to clarify doubts - he will try to explain you nicely. At the same time, he expects you to do your homework and not ask any insane quesion He is not very organized, but certainly very knowledgeable in his field - GPS, Remote Sensing et. al.

GPS class, in his research specialty, he is very involved in the material and teaches it very well. I would highly recommend AAE 575 as he takes a practical, real-world approach to class assignments, not seen in many other Aero classes.

He often stops and asks the class "any questions?" which proved to be one of the most useless ways of figuring out if the class got it. He's not very clear, and once assumed a student hadn't been coming to class the past two weeks when she asked a question (though she hadn't missed one). Other students say Frazo (sp?) is better, probably so.

I had him for 203 AND 301, he's horrible at both and I wouldn't recommend anyone take a class from him. Although he is quite amusing when he messes up his own notes and shuffles around the room and talks about GPS every 5 sec. You just have to laugh at him, it's the only way to stay sane.
