The WORST professor ever! Very rude and disrespectful to the students. Don't bother asking a question if you want the answer. He makes you feel like you are a failure at life. Doesn't respond to emails. Told students if you don't know chemistry you won't pass, even though its 101. Get a tutor if you have no choice but to take him.

My favorite prejunior level teacher. He made the class though but I learned the subject much better and I enjoyed his teaching style. He let us retake every test as a group and average the grade. Pick your group wisely and you will do well, pick poorly and your grade will suffer.

I took this class for Nursing and it sucked!! He does not teach very well at all, he's confusing, and makes you very uncomfortable when asking questions - DON'T ASK QUESTIONS! Learn how to teach yourself because that's what you're gonna have to do. Only barely passed because of the homework online. Didn't get a good enough grade for nursing though

this was a mandatory class for nursing majors, its do-able but its hard you teach yourself your better off if you dont pay attention in the lectures because you'll confuse yourself, writes with sharpie on a paper on a projector in unrecognizable hieroglyphics instead of using a power point he sends out , be ready for at least 2 quizzes a week

AWFUL. Stabbing yourself in the hand with a pencil is more enjoyable than sitting in his class. He'll try and help you, but most of the time his instructions are not clear and you have to watch videos of other professors online to teach you what you need. Absolutely useless. He's friendly, just not helpful.

My advice: don't take Golen unless you HAVE to. He is a nice guy, but a HORRIBLE teacher! His notes are hard to follow, he jumps around a lot, and his quizzes and exams are hard! Also, if you ask him a question he will answer just about everything BUT the question you actually asked! Again, he is a really nice guy, but he CANNOT teach at all!

Prof. Golen might be great at higher level chemistry, but for the lower level entry chem, he is awful. He is very confusing, unclear, bounces around a lot, and usually hand writes notes on a paper he projects, in his barely legible handwriting. You are going to have to self teach, get tutors, and pray to pass this class. He is a really nice guy tho

I am currently taking Professor Golen for Chem 101 and I should have researched him first, I am a nursing major and his horrendous teaching will cause me to fall behind. Impossible exams, unhelpful, rude, and unclear, he flies through his notes making it impossible to follow along. If you HAVE to take him, get a tutor! otherwise you'll never pass.

Tests are extremely hard. If you can avoid taking him, you will be better off. He is not very helpful, the only good thing about the class is he lets you make up your test, but it might ruin your grade as he takes the two and averages.

Guy was a dope. Doesn't care about the student one bit. He flys through his notes and doesn't like to answer questions. Doesn't review for tests and the practice tests he puts online are no where near as hard as the tests he gives. His test are almost impossible. Don't take this guy's class, you'll regret it

I had read many bad things about professor Golen. I decided to go against what I read and give him a shot. I used to LOVE chemistry. His tests are nearly impossible. He gives practice exams online, but they are 10X easier than his actual exams. He likes to mark right answers wrong. His writing is not readable and doesn't answer questions.

runs the class five minutes late, most people do not finish recitation quizzes in time. Does not scale or give extra credit. Tests aren't too bad chalkboard notes are incomrehensible; notorious for marking write answers wrong. He is somewhat helpful, but makes openly snide remarks to students with legitimate questions. very rude and unprofessional.

I hated this guy. If your a chemistry major who knows your stuff, you'll be fine with him. If you struggle with math or have limited interest in chemistry, he is completely condescending and downright rude. He has laughed at me before and refused to answer questions. He goes over things really fast and his chalkboard notes are hard to follow.

Had him for CHM 152 and 153. He will always run class 3-5 minutes late. I never much liked his attitude, and felt he was very wrong when assigning random things after people would leave at 8:55 when class ends at 8:50. His tests are where he shines though. They're easy and you can choose what problem you want to do.

This class went over like a fart in church. Seriously, this was the toughest calss ive taken at school... He grades soley on your test grades, and nothing more, so make sure you know whats going on. Engineers, prepare yourself, He will degrade you every chance he gets.
