Comment:
He wrote the textbook we used. He is very caring and clearly knows the material very well. His lectures can get boring but taking the time to actually read the textbook and complete the homework questions helped me pass the class. There was a lot of extra credit. It's pretty hard, but with effort it is doable. I learned a lot in this class.

Nice guy but honestly so horrible at teaching. If your looking to pass micro or macro i would not recommend taking it with gwartney. Extremely boring, mono-toned, and tends to talk off topic 80% of the time. When it comes time to take an exam in class your screwed. HIs TA's are horrible too, honestly wish i had a different teacher.

Dr. Gwartney is an economic genius. He wrote the textbook used in class. Some of his lectures are dull and dry, but if you ask him to give an example to help understand it, he will. His class isnt the easiest but I learned A TON.

I came in to this class loving economics, but Dr. Gwartney makes it so boring! The class isn't hard, and Dr. Gwartney is an economic genius, but it's just so hard to stay focused in class. Try to find a more engaging teacher if this is in your major, but otherwise it's a pretty easy A.

you just need to read the textbook in order to pass. i learned so much about economics and i had no interest before. i still don't, but this is an eye-opening class. the lectures were so biased i could barely sit through class, but with that in mind, i learned a LOT about economics.

I love Dr. Gwartney! I absolutely hated economics from high school but I really enjoyed his class. I learned more in this class than I did in any other class I have ever taken. He's a great person, and knows his subject extremely well. His tests aren't hard as long as you skim the book and pay attention to his lectures. He also gives out soda :)

He was the best economics professor ever! He was so helpful, answered any and every question, and even hosted study sessions for our class! He's one of my favorite professors that I've ever had, definitely.

Aw, I feel bad for the guy. His intentions are good, and he's a wonderful person, but I do admit his lectures are VERY boring. They are key to passing his tests though. He really knows his stuff, and if you seek out his help he's more than willing to give it. He's very passionate about what he does. If you're good at attendance, you'll succeed.

At least half of the class sleeps every lecture. He is very boring and confusing, but the tests arent hard and its pretty easy to get an A. You have homework and he gives quiz questions every single lecture so go as much as possible.

my semester grade was a 102!i got a 102 on the first test (it was easy, but take micro first), an 80 on the second (didn't study...was the hardest test) and a 105 on the final & my quiz grade was a high C. NOT HARD TO GET AN A. still, i recommend Calhoun. had to teach myself everything. gwartney can't convey ideas very well and his TA's were ****e

he is a good teacher but hard to listen to, its easy to get bored in the class both because the subject matter and the teacher but that doesn't mean he doesnt explain things well, i think he did this fine and as long as you had an understanding of the info its a pretty easy -A +B in the class.

The most boring lecturer ever! Gives extra credit options for somewhat difficult material, but can't take resaponsibility for his own poor teaching. When the median test score for 300 (yes 300!) students is a 60%, the teacher had to have done something wrong. Instead he threatens to negatively curve the grade. Its time to retire!

This guy is alright but hes nearly blind and wrote the book... literally! Class is rather boring but easy quiz grades. Just be attentive but I'd recommend someone else just cause of the size of the class and how it seems to just drag on.

If you just sit in on the lectures and try to listen (which is not hard- Gwartney's pretty interesting), than you'll probably make a great grade.

EASY Class. I really enjoyed him as a professor. Nice guy who related economics concepts with personal stories. Very enthusiastic about the subject matter. Anyone who says he's difficult is stupid. I took an honors section of it and got an A. Tests straight from the book (he wrote the book).
