Well, yeah, he's kinda odd but not a terrible teacher at ear training. He is pushy which can be good, but I'm never taking from him again... I hear he is good for written theory though. haha, sometimes he makes his "sfz" jokes...

poor socially awkward dr. hiatt. has weird mood-swings at times. if written theory is hard for you DON'T TAKE HIATT, but if its easy, he is the best because he doesn't care if you skip class. great for ear training, pace is good if you're on top of things (but gets frustrated if you are slow/don't understand him).

I have had this class before, and don't even know what he's trying to explain!!! 4 tests, and I only go to class to make sure I'm up to date to tutor those who cannot function because of this man. Worst class ever, don't take Hiatt! Haney is so much better. You'll move faster, but get a real education.

He's a great teacher, but mostly I will comment on his appearance and personality. He is the nerdiest looking old man ever with a funny combover, and he wears his pants very high, so that when he stands there and pats his stomach, it looks like he's touching himself. Awkward lol... but he's a really good teacher, and a piano genius.

Ear training & theory is hard if you aren't good at it. So stop whining about his teaching skills & reconsider your major. I was bad at ear training and worked my butt off coming to class everyday and even though my average was a D, he still passed me with a C. Music doesn't all just come to you, you have to learn it. That's why you're in school

Dr. Hiatt is quite socially akward. I don't mind him because aural theory comes easy to me. If you aren't good at it, be prepared, because he gets very impatient! Good intentions, though, I think. He's so funny because he says stuff like "You guys did very badly with this today..."
