He knows your name, loves when you raise your hand to answer questions. His lecture is well structured: explains general concept, goes through example problems, lets your group work on an example. I love class Pay attention in class and homework/exams are a piece of cake. Jim Jones explains everything so clearly. Best professor in ME hands down

Dr. Jones is an excellent professor. Hes passionate about the subject and it shows. He remembers every single students name, which is a nice touch in a class of 150+. Lectures are extremely easygoing and clear. Exams are extremely predictable, just do the past exams he gives you.

Comment:

Jones is probably the most respected prof in the ME school. He learns every students name, and cares about students learning the material. Exams are straight forward, and pretty easy if you take a few practice exams. Make sure you double check your calculator calculations on HW and exams.

Did a great job with lectures by explaining concepts clearly and giving students ample opportunity to ask questions even with a large class. I did not read the textbook and pretty much relied on his in class examples to complete the homework and study for exams.

Prof. Jones is the best engineering professor I have had thus far. If you take him for ME270, he gives you access to all of his distance learning lectures which are super helpful for exam review. He always shows videos of why the concepts in class are important and will do his best to demonstrate the things we are learning with props in class.

Dr. Jones was great at teaching statics. He was always open for questions and made it clear what to expect on tests. Tests aren't hard if you know what you're doing. Lots of homework, but they prepare you for tests that way. Take statics with Dr. Jones if it fits in your schedule.

Great professor. Explained things well, was good at answering questions, and was clear about his thought process while doing examples. There's a lot of homework (3 assignments per lecture), but the actual material is very straightforward and is mostly simple kinematics. Most mistakes you make will be computational, so watch out for those.

Although I did not do the greatest in this class. I knew that Professor Jones was always there if I needed to talk about how to proceed in this class. I probably would have done a lot worse if I had not gone to talk to him about getting help in this course. He was very personable and got to know all of his students even though the class was large.

One of the best profs I have had. He is one of the small handful of profs that are extremely good at teaching. His lectures actually teach you the course, but you still have to study quite a bit on your own for the ME270. I would highly recommend you take this class with James Jones. If every prof was like him, college would be easier.

Dr. Jones is easily the coolest professor I've ever had. Associate head of Mechanical Engineering, but somehow he still takes the time to memorize the names of all 100 of us in his sophomore lecture. His lectures are all very easy to understand and although there is a lot of work to be done, Dr. Jones makes it remarkably easy to be successful.

His examples are what you get for homework. Practice for exams with the previous exams. He is a GREAT lecturer, has an awesome structure, very clear with the theory and in general the material is very straight forward. In my opinion, he is one of the "Must take a class with this professor". Very helpful outside of class!

Very kind and helpful guy! Goes out of his way to learn all of his students names. Statics can be a very tricky subject, but Jim Jones coached us through it better than any other could. Jim Jones truly is the man!
