The group project is a heavy in writing but covers entire software development. He also shows some interesting videos related to the software process. His math skills were extra ordinary.

Didn't like this guy at all. He fails at explaining new and difficult concepts. He is a very harsh grader, doesn't help if you have questions about something during the Exam. He asks some of the freeresponse questions on the midterm out of no where, its like things that you think shouldn't be asked on Exam are the things he asks on Exams. Avoid him

3 projects, 3 exams. Knowledgeable, patient, caring guy. Hard to understand but will spend more time re-explaining if you ask. Don't skip lectures or you'll be way behind. Hard topic, but he takes time to show step by step. Hand-holds you through project, even giving you most of the answer on the last one. Tests are same as reviews so go to them.

His English is not great at times and his handwriting is not great All the time. But he tries to help everyone understand the material. 3 exams, 3 projects. Projects are a must do since the exams are like hell. Pay attention to lecture bc he starts talking about things Not on ppts that Will be on exams. Hard but doable. why is there a chili pepper.

Comment:
Most answers on exams (closed book) are from lecture notes. Book used is outdated, and for a graduate course, chapter summaries are ridiculous, particularly when tests are based on lectures notes, which differ from book. If you can memorize well, you shouldn't have problems with the exam and score an A. Others will have more difficult time.

Chapter summaries, posts, exams, and a group project. Exams ask fairly detailed questions that are difficult when doing closed-notes. Lectures and slides aren't very useful, read the book.

The class is straightforward and easy to understand. For the online class, the test is closed-book and closed-notes, which puts honest people at a disadvantage because he asks some detailed questions.

As others have said, definitely one of the hardest undergrad level classes to take. I can not stress enough that you MUST be on top of your game coding-wise or you are going to struggle. Dr. Choi is a really nice guy and fair, but has terrible hand-writing which makes the already tough lectures much more confusing (and actually somewhat comical).

VERY hard subject. I had to fight like mad to get a C. As others have said you MUST complete the 3 assignments and make them as perfect as you can, because you'll need the points come exam time. Exams are short but pack a punch! They are hard! On the plus side, Choi is an extremely nice guy and he seems to really care about his students' success.

Plain & simple, this class is hard and will really test your programming skills. There are 3 assigts. throughout the semester which can easily take upto 20-50hrs each to complete. If you want to pass, you MUST do the assigts, because the tests (3 of them) are hard. Choi covers ALOT of material VERY fast, so you MUST attend class an get the book!

Very hard class, but he does a good job explaining it. The programming assignments are some of the hardest I've ever had, ranging from 20-30 hours of time each (3 in the semester). Tests were also hard because he throws in weird problems not seen on the homework or anywhere else. He's a good teacher but the class is very hard, take for a challenge

Lots of material in the class, maybe he needs to reduce the number of topics covered. Professor Choi explains the techniques and algorithms at fast pace but doesn't explain the meaning behind those.
